Question A 2x2 mortar and other misterious mistakes

As most of us know, in the majority of the Sneak Peeks' images and also in the App Store images Supercell puts some strange buildings. They put th10 defenses with TH9 or they modify the buildings' space.
Someone said that it was a developer base but this still doesn't explain why they continue to make the same mistake. And this still doesn't explain why they make the mistake always in the same direction: more powerful buildings with lowest level th. And also this doesn0t explain why buildings space are modified: I think that in a developer device there is a normal 3x3 mortar not a 2x2 mortar, a 4x4 TH not a 4x5 th.

What do you think? What is the purpose of this error? Is it just a marketing strategy?

I've never seen this before. Images?

Edit: nevermind found it. It's Supercell's sandbox mode. They can do as they please in it, including summoning golemite without golems, or skeletons without witches.

Studies have shown that people prefer 2x2 mortars whenever possible. So I think you are right, this is clever marketing, also known as a bait and switch. SC gets new players all excited for the 2x2 mortar and then BAM!, they are stuck with a lousy 3x3 mortar once they are hooked on the game. How devious, yet brilliant.

    One word: Commercial

watch all the commercials in TV or in the advertisements in Journals and Newspaper... Advertised features never look like the ones in the spots... Best examples: Compare the burgers shown in the commercials to them you get in the Fast-food restaurants from the same companies... Never had a burger in FF-chain which looked like the ones in the spots or on the posters...

    Yes you are right.

But still I don't understand why a 2x2 mortar should be better than a 3x3 mortar. (I can understand that a BIG and PERFECT burger is better than a REAL SMALL burger).

Could we agree on: evolution ? maybe our so beloved creatures and fighters are doing research in advanced weapon technologies as they only have limited building-space but still want to grow their villages in the future....

compare the size and the firepower of a bomb used in 2nd world war to an actual one used in modern conflicts... They're also smaller but do much more damage
