    Child making in-app purchases

Hold on a moment. I was just reading a thread were the OP's son had amassed a large bill due to purchase of 'gems'. I then noticed that he seemed to be perfectly eligible for a full refund as it was his son that made the purchases. I have a few questions about this.

    1) Where's the proof that it was his son and not somebody else but blaming it on an underaged individual to dodge costs?

    2) What if the account holder used up all the gems or a partial amount? Are they still entitled for a refund?

    3) Can't this be exploited? I go make £10k gem purchases, use them all up ingame then blame it on someone underaged get a refund and reap the rewards?

You are asking whether you can get away with committing fraud?

I suppose the best thing to do would be to delete the CoC account as well.

It would teach the kid not to be dumb if it truly was a kid.

To sum it up, yes that's what I'm asking.

Generally speaking most folks can get away with committing relatively small crimes without getting caught. Mostly it's the unlucky few and the repeat offenders that have issues.

Even murders only have a 60% solve rate. How do you think gem theft ranks?

    I agree

It makes sense completely to think that it could be fraud. You need to put a password in order to get the gems. The parent must have credit card statements showing the purchases and catch them early, not after a ridiculous amount of money was spent. Either way you slice it , whether its fraud or not, he failed as an adult/parent. If the gems were spent there is no way he can get a refund.

This is one of the points I'm trying to understand. The kid was 'smart' enough to purchase gems so we can pretty much guarantee he was smart enough also to use them ingame. So is the bill payer still eligible for a refund?

Also thanks to the rest of you for making real word examples of what I'm trying to understand!

If Apple or Google or whoever has handled the payment receives a refund-request they'll inform the developer of the app about it. Mostly the developers than take away all "digital goods" from the account and suspend it.

it's the same procedure as if people buying gems through 3rd party websites/apps and violating Suoercells (or any other developers) TOS...

Wow, judging him when you clearly haven't read the thread.
