I was 3 starred with the tempest with 15 level 5 giants and the rest barbs Wbs and archers..... And i was at gold 2. personally I don't like the tempest.

I would like to know what your levels of defense are at. Temptest was best suited for those with max defenses. I have not been 3 starred once with it. Also take into account if you are high in trophies no TH8 will defend against maxed troops and someone with half a brain attacking. Just my experience. I am using a version of the dominion now and agree it is better for protecting resources than the temptest.

My wizard Towers are level 6, cannons level 10, archer towers level 9, morters level 6, One level 5 AD the rest level 6, 126 purple walls, Traps max, I'm level 70. I'm in gold 1 (50 trophies away from crystal) and level 4 teslas.

Just set this up yesterday. This was the first legitimate attack. The entire attack came from the upper right. Test for the big bomb by the archer on the top right. Then sent in a bunch of giants to the same area. Overall I am happy with the defense. I lost a gold storage and an elixir storage, which i fully expected and am ok with. Wasn't too happy he got to the dark juice, but it wasn't a whole lot.

I am level 75 in Gold 3.

Level 6 AD
Level 4 Teslas
4x Level 4 Bombs
2x Level 3 Bombs
2x Level 3 Big Bombs
1x Level 2 Big bomb
All other traps are maxed for TH8

I will post pictures later, but this base is pretty solid. Of the last 10 attacks, I was sniped 7 times, 41%'d, 48%'d and 100%'d. The 100%'d was 3 drags, 8 wizzies, rest hogs...
