Don't speed upgrade your town hall, being a level nine or ten does not help you if you have gold walls or lower.
SC is able to provide a free game because people pay for gems. You don't need to trade resources if you use gems . . . which you need to pay for to have them in any volume. SC is not going to incentivize not needing gems. This is why (regardless of any benefit) sharing workers or resources will NEVER happen . . . because SC looses money if they make it possible.
... I farm 2 million a day, and everyone says I stink... in ANY volume? You get like 3k gold per gem! Honestly, that STINKS! It's actually faster to farm it than to work for gem money.

I dont see the point of donating spells, especially since they take 30+ minutes to train, I doubt anyone would donate any to anybody.
