Idea to only allow clan members who are set to "elders" to participate in clan wars
This will stop clan fights for people for go away on holiday and "aren't available" and so on
Also very strategic on amount of players you want in each battle

Better solution: have the leader choose who he wants in clan wars.
interesting idea, but I think it's too much power for the leader. It may cause some bad blood within the clan, leading to unhappy clan members and the potential downfall of a clan.
A simple clan war toggle button that lets players choose "in" or "out" would be fine, and that way you don't have to mess with who you consider to be an elder or not.
Even if a player chooses in, if they are one of the ones at the bottom of the trophy count, there's a chance that may still be left out of the war, for example, if you have 43 active members opting in, the bottom 3 trophy earners will still not get to participate.

Here's an real example happening in my clan currently (and probably other clans as well). Some players have recently upgraded to a new townhall and have been spending a ton of elixir on new upgrades (such as lab research, army camp upgrades, etc.) and they are short on elixir. Clan wars cost a good amount of elixir because:
1) you spend a lot of elixir to build high level troops to donate to you fellow clan members' war base clan castles during preparation day
2) you spend a lot of elixir on battle day to donate to clan members' offensive clan castles
3) you spend a lot of elixir on battle day to build a strong army to conduct two raids with (for example, dragon raids)
4) you spend a lot of elixir on spells because you plan to use ALL your spells on both your attacks to try to guarantee a 3-star victory
5) if your clan loses the clan war, you don't get a lot of elixir back to help make up for all that you spent
For these reasons, many clan members have requested that we take short breaks between clan wars, so that they have time to raid and replenish their elixir supply.
Those are the people who want to say they're "out".

Yup, I stand by my original statement of it being too much power for the leader. I don't disagree that any player could leave a clan if they don't like the choices made by the leader, but the fact that the leader can play "favorites" each clan war does not build good morale amongst the clan. You are essentially telling certain players "you're not good enough to be in this war" and this can cause animosity within the clan. As a leader, you're supposed to both keep the peace as well as motivate players to improve and do their best. I think if a leader can pick and choose who they wanna bring to war, you will start alienating certain clan members.
As it exists today, if a player wants to be in clan wars, they have to earn it by making sure they are not at the bottom of trophy counts in their clan. This is something they can actively do and work hard to achieve to earn their right to be in a war. I think this is how it should be.

No, just no. Not every clan has 20+ elders. My clan only has about 8 elders, 2 coleaders, and one leader. That war would be soooooo boring
