Boom beach only lets you upgrade one thing at a time, with clash you can upgrade 3-5.
currently lvl 108 maxed TH 9 farming to upgrade walls and heroes

So why would I want people to put less time and effort into a game to be at the same level as me?

SC are a business and the bottom line is profit. At no point do succesfull companies say 'oh we have made enough profit, lets make less'.
Yes I suppose the bottom line is profit but some people who want to be maxed th10 very quickly would buy gems regardless of the cost of what they want ingame and how much it takes to build it so they would still get a profit

    Freemium:
    Free to play
Multiple currencies, one premium currency that can be purchased with real cash but is hard to obtain otherwise
Upgrades, training troops, etc. takes real time, but you can speed it up with gems, which cost real money
    Insane $100 micro-transactions

    How games should be made:
    $0.99 download fee
Single currency, not too difficult to obtain
All actions in the game are completed instantly, no waiting 2 weeks for your town hall 10
    No micro-transactions

It's sad that company's do this... It's all about the money these days.
in all honesty, that would make the game suck because:
    1. Supercell would never have made nearly as much money as they did and then there would have never been any updates.
    2. People are deterred from buying apps that require you to pay. This would have severely limited the player base.
    3. Instant upgrades would ruin part of the feeling of accomplishment. Part of that feeling is waiting for your things to upgrade and holding out until they finish.
    4. No in app purchases means some people would feel it is impossible to progress. They might be one of those people who feels that loot is terrible, so there would be no way for them to continue and they would just stop playing.

Also, not to sound snarky, but please explain the logic behind "forcing people to pay money up front to play is less greedy than giving it to them for free and letting them have the option to pay to get more stuff?"

People are probably also deterred when on the apple app store it says 'offers in app purchases' so the player base wouldn't be that much smaller if it cost £1.99 or £2.99 (I'm british) and it didn't offer in app purchases. Also it doesn't matter that SC earn as much money as they do now because they are swimming in cash which means they can afford more updates. Points 3 and 4 are good points though

Nobody is deterred from buying a game if it says it offers in app purchases. They know the game is free and they can delete it if they dont like it and they don't lose anything. If it has to be purchased then people are less likely to buy it as they risk wasting money if they don't like it.

If you want proof just look at the top grossing apps, they are almost all free with in app purchases.

I've never heard of people being deterred because of in app purchases. I would imagine that the kind offered in CoC would invite more players because they aren't necessary to progress, they just help you out.

That only means that their model is successful and therefore should not be changed.

It would deter some but far less than if it was paid and without and yes I have looked and all the best apps are free with in app purchases

Firstly coc isn't a freemium because there is no premium thing u must u real currency for.
secondly your sentence th 5 can't be done for free is unreasonable what troops are you using and how do u attack because i didn't spend a cent till th8 as that is when upgrade times i wanted to shorten a bit but i didn't have to i always had all my builders working and was progressing. I can tell u right now the last time i bought a paid app was over 6 months ago but in app purchases are more frequent. You are telling a business to change a successful business model to one that u know is less successful
