I found the most dk elixir coming in using barch at crystal 1 or 2. that way you never use de and you get a little bonus with wins.
I even fail to stay in Crystal III

i farmed mine by a giant healer 25 min army, aiming for 2500 storages, which works out to about 6000k de an hr. Or you can farm masters with baloons for bonus and 3.5k+ storages for a net profit of 7k after bonuses.

It's pretty easy to farm DE just using BARCH at 2100-2200. Easy to maintain trophies and also some pretty weak attackers there. The most DE you will be able to find is roughly 1200-3000 DE but through repetitive attacking using BARCH over a short amount of time, it can earn you a lot more in a given time.
Or U can use BAM.
Chuck in barbs and archers to clear most buildings and some heals spells when splash damage buildings gets them to low health. When only a few left, put in a few minions to check for air bombs then throw in all those minions to suck up that DE. Though as easy as it sounds, BAM requires lots of skill and experience so watch some youtube vids about it.
