Clan categorization: Step toward a global leaderboard for war
As we know, in fighting sports, most of them have weight categories, classes and other differentiating factors in competitions. This is to provide a fair enviroment for competition as it would not be fair for a male heavyweight boxer to be put against a lightweight female boxer in a ring.
The same can be said in Clan Wars, a very new feature in our beloved CoC strategy game.
We were informed that matchmaking is made by the total 'raw power' of all participating members of a clan for war.
I'm not asking SC to reveal the actual numbers of 'raw power' for clans to players, I would like to suggest another statistic for a warring clan that is visible to the players themselves: The 'raw power' category of all members within the clan that is eligible for war.
Roughly, I will use the most common example here, clans can be categorized as Heavyweights, Middleweights and Lightweights depending on the overall 'raw strength' of troops and buildings of the clan members. The number of classes should be more than just three for the diverse number of clans participating in clan war.
Clans can only be matched with those in the same category and/or if a clan is in the upper lightweight, it can be matched with clans of the lower middleweight depending on the availability of opponents searching for war.
It would also help clearing up issues where players might feel they have been matched up unfairly because they could determine the category of their own clan and the clan they are going to war with.
This categorization can enable a more reliable leaderboards for clan wars worldwide because ranks based on categories can be established.
This is an initial tought of mine on the topic, but if responses are favorable, I would make a more comprehensive post on this idea. It would also include the number of participating members for clan wars, as we have an overly diverse numbers doing war ATM.
