Everything should need a builder to upgrade in my opinion. It would be like having a 6th builder. Good thought, but I think building walls without a builder might be to OP serving as a 6th builder.

If you already have three builders I doubt every single one will be building/upgrading things all the time so it doesn't matter if it's added or not. Although it is instant and repairing traps is instant so it make sense. And I'm pretty sure it won't mess up the gold exchange transaction stuff.

I have 5 builders and they are all on 7 day + builds and my research still has 12 days to go. So yes, they are upgrading all the time.
As another post says, if you could dump gold into walls all the time, there would be no gold left in the game.
In the beginning (in the olden days) it worked like this.
Most gold was spent very quickly, and loot was terrible.
Asking for this is like asking for loot to be worse than it is now...
Yep it was already removed from the game and it will never come back.
