Well, if you feel that there's still a chance you can get to Master, then go for it. If you've lost all hope, just upgrade the TH, you're pretty much maxed anyways, also it's much easier to get to Masters at TH 9, with loads of new defensive stuff. Btw, if anyone wants to recommend a good strategy TH 8 can use, that'd be greatly appreciated. In the same boat as this guy, but at 2400 is where I've hit my wall. Dropped a bit after getting greedy and going after a few collector bases (LOOT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT, 1.2 mil. raids ) and now at about 2300. Thanks for any help!
If you are trying to get into masters, I have seen YouTubers barch all the way up there. However, I don't see any reason not to upgrade to town hall 9, as you are pretty much maxed.
Three days ago I decided to see how far I could go with my giants lvl5, barbs lvl6, archers lvl5, lvl10 king, lvl7 Queen. I started around 1700 trophies and finished the day around 2250 trophies after playing about 8 hours total online. The next day I had a day off work so I was online for about another 10 hours and finally got to 2606. Ten minutes later I was back down at 2200
I did this by pressing the next button a lot! I started off with 5M gold, 6M elixir and ended up with 4,2M gold and 8M elixir plus a huge amount of dark elixir from the winning bonus, so elixir was not an issue because the army composition was cheap. I TH sniped almost all the way basically, hitting the few th7s and th8s I found with my whole army. Up until about 2500 I guess I was extremely lucky as not too many exposed THs were booby trapped (teslas, bombs, spring boards), but sometimes I ended up saving the day with my whole army plus cc troops. After 2500 ALL THs were booby trapped. Once I hit 2596 I was thrilled, but I must have spent a good 300k gold hitting the next button and the final TH was exciting as you could want. All I wanted was a few trophies and I was dreading to lose. Anyhow I got the TH and was rewarded with a 1000 gems and now only need 17 more for my 5th builder. Only once did I lose trophies on my way up and this was an overconfident full out attack against a well protected TH8! My bad
So, I think any th8 with lvl5 troops can make it, but be prepared to be hitting the next button a lot and only getting 3-11 trophies per win.
