Why would anyone want to set their inferno towers to single target?

I'm TH 9, so I don't have inferno towers myself, but I sometimes attack bases that do.

It appears to me that if the tower is set to single target then I can take it out with relative ease. If it is set to multi target on the other hand, then I can't even get near it. The multi target setting is WAY over powered compared to single target.

The difference between the two settings is so big that I think it makes it a bit of a non-feature to have the option to switch between them. It should be a non trivial decision whether to set the tower to single or multi target to make the game more fun, but in stead you get two choices: Awesome and kind of weak. A bit of a no brainer if you ask me.

Single target is good for when someone is pushing, no reason to use single target when you're only getting attacked by farming armies. But if you're pushing high 1 on single target might be usefull against Dragons or golems or heroes.

Wait until you've tried to take down Golems and level 40 heroes with max ITs on Multi. They don't even cause a sunburn.

I have 1 on multi, for the smaller troops, and 1 on single for the big ones.

"Why would anyone use x-bows set to ground when you can have them set to air and ground!"

Well you see - we all play differently and that let us choose what we need. Having an IT not set to single above 2800+ is gonna be suicide, you'll get 3-starred within the minute of logging off.

With a hog track base you set to single to encourage hoggers to hit your base and get defensive trophies.

At a certain level, hoggers dry up and you'll be getting hit with GoWi style atks or mass drag almost exclusively. You'll want single to stop the 2nd star.

I'm only a th 9 so I'm not realy an expert on infernos but i have looked at how the top players have set their infernos

the top 10 players currently have their infernos set like this

    1. M/M
    2. M/M
    3. S/S
    4. M/M
    5. S/M
    6. M/M
    7. S/M
    8. M/M
    9. M/M
    10. S/M

All but 1 of them have one or both their infernos set to multi. As i dont have infernos i cant say why this is but i can say that from talking to clan members and watching replays it would seem single isn't very effective as most cases it is frozen before it can warm up and cause any damage.

I am also no expert so someone can correct me on this, but people at the top are there more by virtue of attacking alot with great troops and strategy, and staying online a lot. Some people would suggest they are also using some unsavory methods, but I have no knowledge of that.

Either way, I wouldn't look at them as the standard for how to set infernos unless I see a lot of defensive wins in their profile. It seems every time I check the leaderboard I have more defensive wins or a higher gold grab than someone (or several) in the top 10 who gemmed their way there.

How is that setting working for you? Do you get hogged more?

If you ever make it above 3200+ trophies you will find out that a defensive win is about as rare as finding a pink elephant... so I wouldn't be too proud about having more. If a top player gets a defensive win it is either because the attacker is drunk or disconnected during battle, or has gotten a free shield from someone.
