The Impossible TH 8 Anti-Hog Transformers Base

Thank you for the reply! It is heartening to see that my rather long-winded observations did not go unnoticed.

From last night (5 level 4 minions and 15 level 5/6 archers in CC with one wizard tower down, 1 mortar now at level 6 and a second mortar going to level 6):

First defense against: 19 barbarians (level 4), 29 archers (level 4), 5 minions (level 1), 9 giants (level 5), 5 hog riders (level 1), 2 healers (level 2), 11 wizards (level 5), 10 goblins (level 4), CC and 2 heal spells (level 3) - 38%

Second 'defense' against: 16 hogs (level 5), 4 wall breakers (level 6), 14 giants (level 6), 3 healers (level 4), 40 archers (level 6) and 4 rage spells (level 5)... predictable outcome of getting three starred (even had the traps not been sprung by the first defense) but such would be expected for any TH8 base with my current level of defenses.

Actually, I can't describe the feeling of seeing someone has taken their time to give me a feedback to something created by myself. I can only be pleased by the long comments and enjoy reading them. Thank you so much!!!
As for the first defense, it looks like a decent one- not too bad, not too good (though every defense win as a TH 8 in crystal is sweet ). I guess the wizards have done a good part of the damage. For the second one: the base holds up well against up to TH 8 level troops. Against TH 9+ level of troops though +/- AQ, and especially if the attacker is a decent one, not much can be done unfortunately.

Yea, I'm not that big of an idiot, I know nothing can stop the good hog attacks at TH 8. Actually, I made this base to try and prevent losing one more star against the weaker hog attacks (having in mind being attacked by similar level players than I am).

It looks good, way better than my anti-hog base! Yes we all know that TH8's can't do anything against hog riders but this will make them go in circles and the point defenses will kill them and so will the giant bombs. I especially like that it is a transformer base, great job!

Instead of defense logs, here is how the base performed in the nFinity's last clan war:

Conclusion: the base worked well for everybody else who used it, except for myself.

The dragons tend to split, and the few that go for the core get hit badly by the air defenses. The dragon attackers in this case were weak though, it was too funny to watch the th 10 guy with maxed drags and 5 spells getting only a star on each of their two attacks (ETA: on their first attack they chose to deploy drags from one point and got the TH with 49%, the second attack it was 2 deploying points and got 1 star, but not the TH).

I am a member of nFinity and have had very good success with this base. As Mimo mentioned earlier, it did well in our most recent clan war. I have also had impressive results against determined high-level raids on my base.

Thanks Mimo! I'll be on Town Hall 8 for a while longer because I have many additional upgrades that still need to be done before the TH9 upgrade. It's nice to know that I have a solid base that serves me well.

This is the first base I found that looks really effective. Ironically, after changing my layout, I got revenged by 26 level 3 hogs. He 3 starred me, but I went down swinging.

The first anti-hog TH8 base I've seen. Nice job.

You should really change the name to Anti-Drag base, this comes from looking at your defenses from the clan war. Pretty impressive that mass drag only gets one star against a th8 since I usually use it to three star th8 bases. Going to use this base for the next few days in the 1500-2000 range and see how it holds up. Thanks for the post
