Guy in my clan is in the top 200 in the US and is an all arch enthusiast.

Army comp:
240 arch
CC full of wiz and arch
Both heroes
4 lightning spell
1 Heal spell

It's all about picking the right base, look for one where splash and xbows are deeper in the base. Also make sure they have most of their mines, barracks and collectors on the outside (even better if cc and heroes are centralized).

With 2 fingers start at the top and slowly deploy ALL archers around the base. Your fingers should move slow enough that every archer is deployed when you get to the bottom. When the last archer drops immediately drop your king, queen and then cc troops in that order on the opposite side of their heroes and cc troops if they aren't dead yet. If they are dead just drop them wherever the most potential for gained % is. Drop the heal spell on the king once he starts beating on a wall and use abilities whenever you think is best.

Most importantly, pay attention to any defenses near the outside that are weakened by your archers but not quite taken out. Knowing this lets you use less lightning spells per defense if you're still short of 50% after your heroes and cc do work.

Hi all,

I think its best if I start with a quick introduction. I started to play clash of clans towards the end of January, start of February 2013 and have been hooked ever since. Since I started playing I have never really trophy pushed as I wanted to work on upgrades. I have never spent any money on this game except for the 2500 gem package for the 5th builder and I have finally maxed all of my buildings, as of yesterday (just waiting for three air defences and the clan castle to finish upgrading - between 1 day 10 hours and 12 days 9 hours).

I thought I knew pretty much everything about this game but as the title suggests, the new update for clan wars was a shocking eye opener for myself, and it seems that I only know 50% of the game - the farming side. I presumed that if i just trained a ton of Balloons and Minions combined with 4 rage spells and a lightning I would steam roll the mediocre opponent that I decided to attack. However, after dropping all of my troops and expecting to obtain an easy three star victory, I soon realised that this battle was one that I was inevitably going to loose (this particular opponent even had his Town Hall outside of their walls - but my short lived confidence saw me drop all troops on the opposite side). The battle finished with me ending up with +/- 40% and no stars.

My second battle was a similar story, I trained up 2 Golems, Wizards, Barbs, Archers, Wall Breakers, 4 Rage Spells and a Lightning. This time, I was again sure of obtaining three stars (I opted for an even easier opponent this time) so dropped all my troops in a similar fashion and again saw myself fail within a matter of seconds (again the town hall was outside but for some unknown reason I dropped my troops on the opposite side), but it must be noted that I got over 50% and one star.

It is because of this that I am writing this post, I am now looking to shoot for Champions League and would love some advice on how to achieve this as, I must admit that it was rather embarrasing to think how the opposition clan were probably laughing at my pathetic attempt to attack for stars! The clan I attacked was FA Phoenix and if they have any members on these forums, I'm sure they can vouch how bad my attacks were! I will also be documenting my trophy count as I rise and rise (hopefully), until I finally do reach Champions League - currently 2001 trophies.

So, guys I would love some advice on how to attack, which strategies work best at certain trophy ranges and potentially links to videos to refine my attacking skills!

Also, below this is the design that I am currently using (first time ever my town hall has been inside my walls!) so any advice/tips would be great (this is simply one I copied).

After 1 Day - 20 Giants, 40 Barbs, 40 Archers, 12 Wall Breakers, 4 Wizards and 20 Goblins = 2224 Trophies
After 2 Days - 90 Barbarians 140 Archers = 2449 Trophies
After 4 Days - 90 barbs 110 Archers 8 giants = 2540 trophies (only been attacked once, so all offensive trophies)

Let me tell you the easy steps to winning ANY raid in clan wars against someone who is TH9.

1. train 10 barbarians, 1 giant, and the rest Lv5 hogs.
2. Use the 10 barbarians and 1 giant to lure the heroes and clan castle troops.
3. use 2 fingers and drop your hogs in 2 seperate areas in the weakest corner of the base.
4. Support your hogs with healing spells when, AND ONLY when the hogs are at half HP
5. get an easy 3 star, go gloat in clan chat and have all your clan mates love you.

(I made all the important parts bold. BTW the key to this strategy is to lure the heroes properly. I use 41 hogs, 10 barbs, and 1 giant. I am TH9 with only 220 housing space.)

Since you're a TH10, if you want to raid TH10 bases then I would reccomend you use the GoWiWi strategy. If you want a video on that strategy then watch my clan leader use it:

I think you're just bad (evidence being that you put your troops on the wrong side for an easy 1 star).

It's surprising you could get such an upgraded base being so bad, but hey, I've seen some pretty bad players.

The problem with this game, in every aspect, is that you always choose to attack bases that you know you'll beat. So we're never training ourselves to get any better.

You attack bases for farming to gain resources and so when you have to go against a base which isn't ♥♥♥♥ they wreck you. Not to mention you're using the same strategy over and over farming and that won't help you when you're attacking different types of base layouts.

You say I'm bad generally yet you compliment my base, clearly I'm bad at raiding (I don't shy away from that face) but good at farming (hence my base) - isn't this something I specified in my initial post? Regarding the rest of the reply was baffled by what you meant.

Just reached Masters league.

Has been a struggle getting 4-10 trophies per battle and then loosing one for 28+ trophies

I have not been attacked now in 3 days so not getting any defensive trophies, quite frustrating that aspect.

I love farming and the raiding aspect, but when you raid for cups its horrendous looking at my failed attempts
