Hmmm... Chess has been around for hundreds of years and people still play that...
perhaps you meant every video game dies eventually... Starcraft is still played by many, and I am sure there are plenty of examples of other video games with long lifespan.
The video gaming industry is perhaps too young yet to have created a title with the staying power of chess, but I would not rule it out from happening, granted a video game would need to maintain a certain level of revenue to support the cost of operating servers for hundreds of years....

I think he means die out as in SC closes the game or they go bankrupt when all players leave it.
