If I had a penny for every time a user said to me "it shouldn't be too much trouble to code..."
...
I'd have 14 pennies.
The reason why I mention the war base is that Supercell have clearly already implemented a facility to hold a separate snapshot of the war base. Now, I have no idea what their code base looks like, so cannot say what would be simple and what wouldn't, I merely mention the war base as being the example that, in my opinion, would give the greatest benefit.
Switching between war base and normal base is the only regular, major restructuring I do, but I agree that it would be good to be able to try out different layouts and revert to previously saved layouts rather than having to redo everything from scratch every time.
Also, I would actually quite like to have a permanent war base so that I don't have to switch my layout at the last minute. Somebody else on this thread suggested being able to tag one of the saved layouts as the "war layout" which seemed like a good idea to me.
Hope this idea gets implemented soon!

I like it, but the reason that I made this idea is not just for War time but for using and trying out different layouts outside of war. You could have a farming layout, defensive, war base, anti-hog, fun layout, new one you want to try, etc. So many options.
