Farmers can't ♥♥♥♥ it in clan wars

There was a thread here earlier about whether farmers will be any good at clan wars. Now the first evidence from actual play is in.

I'm in a clan with mostly casual players who farm at low level, and yes, it seems that they tend to bring their habits of being contend with just getting a bit of loot to the clan war. Cheap troops and unfocused attacks are losing us the war. One guy even dumped a group of goblins next to a wizard tower in his attack!

So, as much as I hate to admit it, it seems that the original poster of the previous thread was right.

    Thumbs Up

I feared that our clan of mostly low level farmers will be bad at attacking for stars, but lots of our guys and gilrs are two- and three-starring the opponents bases.
Numerous of them even use their regular one-tier farming troops.
They just add some good cc troops, spells and a hero to the Mix and off they go.
And they bring much more wallbreakers than when they are farming, to make sure to get to the townhall.

Other just cook up trophy armies with GoWiPe, Mass Dragons, Ballonians or Giant/Healer.

Perhaps it's a good thing they can practice their strategies without risk of loosing any trophies.

I've been thinking the same thing. I was actually considering making a very similar thread to this one.

As I said at the time, Stitch was basically flamed for asking a perfectly reasonable question. It was clear there was a lot of misunderstanding of the point and some over confidence.

The reality is very different from the perception you get from reading that thread. A one off raid with no ability to hit next 100 times is more difficult than people thought, especially when the enemy has no defs down, a strong cc and heros up. Also, with all the complaints about heros not being available on attack and matchmaking, it's clear the farmers aren't having an easy time.

I should say this is spoken from the perspective of a farmer, who got pretty much what he was expecting. ie a raid resulting in a skin of the teeth 2 star against a TH10 base roughly equivalent to my own.

This is the key to everything. This plus the fact all those pesky traps are always armed in every base U attack will make it very hard for us farmers to attack opponents of the same level of our bases.

Although I thought I would have an easy time I'm beginning to doubt now since I'm paired with other TH9's of a higher level than me. The fact that I only recently changed to TH and so most of my troops are still lvl 5 (not to say all), won't make this any easier.

Lol, yeah, I got flamed up real nice in that thread It's all good fun.

What people didn't know is that I wrote the thread a little tongue in cheek, but mainly about myself. I even voted "I'm scared" in my own poll.

I knew I would find it tough and the added pressure didn't help. Really missed my BK going for 2 stars in first battle and then over stretched in my second with the unfamiliar GoWiWi army. We wont talk about that one

Really looking forward to more and already practising with different armies.

It all boils down to heroes really.

On our pushes we have comfortably hit top 50 each time, and we have been matched with a top 20 clan.

Most of them have maxed heroes so they are available for attacks at all times. Most of us have level 20 to 30 heroes, so they are likely to be upgrading at all times and therefore not available to use in attacks.

High level farming clans being matched up against gemming clans will be at a very significant disadvantage. Even if we were able to use our heroes the match up would be skewed in the gemmers favour, to not have them available when upgrading ensures we are fighting with our arms tied behind our backs.

More weight should be added to the top half of a clans hero levels (as they can attack twice) in matchmaking, in my opinion.

I had to lol at this thread. Because the last two attacks on us was a guy we noted as having a "farming base" that failed both of his attacks

Although the key does seem to be epic troop comps with very high cook time/elixir cost/de cost, other strategies, like cost/return and strategic comfort still play a part. Of course you can just balloonion every base, or release mass drags/healers, but it is neither good investments or feasible for farming.
