Upgrading heroes during clan war

Since my dark elixir storage is full, I want to upgrade my heroes. However when the heroes is upgrading, will I still be able to attack bases in clan war with my heroes? Please help!

As far as I know all upgrades are ignored until they are completed in your war base. So your heroes would still be fully functional just like if you were upgrading a normal building. That is what I have been told.

Can a somebody (preferably SC or a mod) confirm that we can still use our upgrading heroes in an ATTACK during the clan war? I know that they will be awake on DEFENSE at the level they are currently in prior to upgrading. Sorry but I feel it's easier to ask here than look for the answer in 70+ pages of the FAQ. This is not specifically addressed in Marika's FAQ -- though she did say that heroes must be awake in planning the attack. Thanks for the clarification.

I am 90% sure you don't get heros on offense, if upgrading. Your defenses are just a clone of your set up, minus any upgrading. While offensively your operating from your base like normal.

So Defense = goblin map style clone of your layout

Offense = goblin map style raid, in that it doesn't break your shield but your still using resources and power from your "normal" base.

I'm surprised that this hasn't been officially addressed. But if you're right that will really suck not to be able to use upgrading heroes during the war. ESPECIALLY considering the heroes are used in the matchmaking calculations still.

My clanmates tried, upgrading heroes cant use in ATTACK but function in DEFENCE.

They will be active on defense since your war base is a snapshot of your base and all upgrading things will be the level they are upgrading from.
However, FOR ATTACKING, it comes from your base and if upgrading, THEY WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE for raids
