We make sure that everyone gets the update at the same time, and that means pressing the Google Play store button too
Why is this important?
Everyone plays on the same servers, and this means that all devices (devices are called "client" by app developers) need to have the same version as our servers have. No matter if the device is Android or iOS. The new
client version is delivered for everyone through the stores (Apple and Android stores), from where everyone can download it. When this is possible, we start a maintenance break and update that same version to
our servers, the same servers where everyone plays on
IF this wouldn't be done, if client and server wouldn't have the same version, people would get the "Client and server out of sync" message -> they wouldn't be able to play the game. So we need to make sure that everything is super well coordinated.
So as soon as the update has made its way to the App Stores, we can start a maintenance break on
our servers and update the new version on them
This process ensures that everyone gets the update at the same time, and there's as little down time as possible
