Can you buy gems without a credit card using only an iTunes gift card?

I was wondering because people were saying that I couldn't but others were saying I could so if someone could confirm this. I live in the U.S. if you need it.

There are 2 ways to buy in-app purchases:

1. you do it via iTunes cards (you can buy them in the mall...)

2. OR you can use your creditcard (Paypal, mastercard,...)

yup you can use itunes card only strictly. disable your credit card off before doing this though.

i think this method is better because itunes usually have discounts n they save u $$ for gems. if u ever need.
