Depends on if it's 2 or 3 in a crate and how much of it you can (and want) to cover yourself and on how many your friends have who are online here when that boat comes in. I myself don't have as much vic as usual and my next boat wants it too.

I understand everyone would prefer your solution and it might just work (at least for a while) but a lot of people seem to lose one of their farms sooner or later. Whether it's something they do or a next update of the iOS or the game but a lot of people lose their farms and not all the time will they be able to get it back. A factory restore and new GC ID is the way to go.

Also keep the farms seperated at all times and don't switch them around. It's 1 farm per device / GC ID.

I don't know you seem pretty smart to me .... Oh how sad I would be to lose the farm!
