I've been farming around 2700-3000 and it's a cool and exciting place to be. You meet lots of good opponents and they test layouts for you. Once you get to around 2950 you get instantly attacked once logging out and the flaws of the trophy system become apparent. Having to stay online to be an important part of success in a casual strategic game is as absurd as requiring all world championship chess players to stand on one leg whilst playing.
Anyway, rant over, I'd like to share a defence design I've been having a lot of fun with over the last few weeks. I'll call this "Ringus II"
Yes, it's a ring base. Yes, the DE is exposed. Yes, the Clan Castle is a joke. But, I've found it fabulous at winning defences. I've taken a lot of inspiration from layouts where walls encompass nearly all buildings. They are such rascals when trying to achieve 50% from ground assault. Credit has to go to fellow Azurian 1moregame who took this design to 4k and still managed to win defences. I don't have that tenacity. I have kids. I have to log out between raids.
My last 15 defences...
My thoughts...
Eight wins and seven losses. I'll take those numbers at this level.
When taken the Town Hall always fell to high HP troops. Maybe single mode inferno could provide effective results.
Note the number of attacks using five spells. People go all out for the win here. Cups is everything.
Notice the single star defeats less than 50%. Even when everything is thrown at the Town Hall a second star can still be challenging to achieve.
The Dark Elixir isn't protected well, but along with the Clan Castle and other storages, when attacked from that side, it provides a massive shield that is tricky to break through to the Town Hall.
Replays - The tale of two GoWiWi.
I haven't had the time to record every replay but these two provide a nice contrast.
GoWiWi done poorly.
GoWiWi done right.
As always, thanks for reading.
Looks like an awesome improvement over Ringus One, peabak, maybe you can allocate an entire thread towards this 2nd iteration of your base design? You can go more in depth about the pros & cons of the formation itself, as well as the inclusion of everything else.
I like how you're constantly experimenting with different base layouts; that is one of the true hallmarks of a great base designer. I remember you saying it yourself, to always tweak our bases, shift our buildings around & adapt to our enemies' attacks. Without a doubt, that is one of the most intrinsic fundamentals that every CoC player should have in mind when playing this game.
Look forward to more updates from you, as well as Ringus III possibly? (:
I think I would lose track of all the threads if I gave each layout its own. This is my TH10 thread.
Test, tweak, repeat and nobody knows anything. The last bit is real important and has probably killed off many great designs before they could grow. Some poor dude designs something, places it on the forums for feedback and drops it when the inevitable forum gurus wade in with unhelpful quips on junctions or the peak of banality, "easy three star".
Worse are those who carry out so called 'base reviews' where they wax lyrical and then pull some random score out of their backside. Trust me, they know nothing. Don't listen. Don't even invite them to the table. Data is king. Trust data. If I ever did base reviews I would adopt the design ingame, record 15 defences and present them with a sprinkle of opinion on that real game data. Now if only I had the time.
Thanks for posting.
where can i put the heroes in the Fosse base? because they are outside..
Good question! I wasn't using them at the time. Common opinion is divided as to the most effective place to put them to defend. Personally I wouldn't stick them right next to the Town Hall. I have had a large pack of dragons nicely sucked into the Town Hall by an Archer Queen a few times. Rage and dead Town Hall.
But then, at 20/23 maybe my heroes are too weak to defend effectively. On Fosse the Drill corner spots might be suitable (the left/right ones as a little more defence for nearby AD). I don't know and testing is the only way to find out.
Well, you could replace the Air Defence but then those Bows would probably need to go up losing that lovely range.
You could replace the Bows and have them on the outskirts somewhere which would be interesting.
Personally I think it would weaken the core. However, I know nothing. Test it out and see.
