I see a lot of threads with people asking how to get to Masters League recently. I don't know what the sudden focus on Masters league is, but I'm here to help. This strategy works great if you are a high enough TH9 that most TH9 and below won't want to raid you for a 2-3 star victory attempt. If you are too premature in some defensive areas, this strat will fail. You also need your troops maxed for TH9. This strategy will not work if you have weak offense.
The first thing I did for this, was leave my TH outside... far outside. I surrounded it with two layers of decorations, so it was very apparent that there are absolutely 0 traps by it. Forget all of the trophy base hype for a sec and let me explain why.
On my last push, I made it to 2560ish trophies. But, I lost a ton of resources to hoggers and lost cups too on 95% of those raids. I would lose 20 to 30 trophies each night and if I botched an attack the next day, there goes another few trophies. I got fed up and decided to quit my push to masters because all of the backwards progress was very frustrating. This time, with my TH outside, I saw a full raid come to my base just twice. Yes, just two times. My other defensive logs were all TH snipes or TH/mine raids from low level players. So, every night, I'd wake up to minus 4-11 trophies AND would have an easy revenge that day if I wanted to take it. These TH snipers were also climbing to masters, so sometimes I could level them for 40+ cups if they climbed high enough after attacking me. A net gain of 30+ cups and I didn't have to use spells! A lot of times these would be TH8's and I would get 100k+ loot and 1k+ de out of the deal too. So, you get attacked, revenge, log off and repeat. You don't have to sit on your phone/tablet forever raiding! You can certainly raid in between log outs too if you want, but don't have to.
Using this method, I would even have TH snipes from level 100+ players at times. My theory was that I was strong enough to discourage them from wasting the rest of their army. They could use the rest of their army on me for one more star, or go back to their base after sniping, cook a couple of archers, and go 2 star someone else. They get three stars overall in roughly the same timeframe, instead of just 2 if they throw all their troops at my base. You can revenge these guys too if you want, a lot easier to raid when you have a few minutes to look over their layout as opposed to 30 seconds.
This wait and revenge tactic works great until around 2500 cups. After that, you will still have TH snipers, but you can't climb in cups just off of premmie revenges. A lot of the ones that make it that high don't sign off for hours. You have to raid legit TH10's and 9's, getting 50% wins. So, you lose 1 star on defense, but you only gain 1 on offense most of the time. It's a slower climb than in C2 and C3, and if you do one attack for every defeat, you can lose cups.
As for what attack strategy you use, it doesn't matter. You can use whatever you like the best. I used balloonion from C2-M3, but you can barch it, use giants, gowipe, etc. The goal is to get 2 stars or more on offense for every 1 star you lose on defense. So it works best to cook a powerful army while you're shielded from your TH snipe. Good luck everyone, see you in Masters League!
