What does a healer do in a CC during a defensive attack?

Yep, this is correct. It's also been noted that if a healer is healing a gold storage while it's being attacked it's not unlimited gold the attacker can get. The storage needs to be completely destroyed to get all the gold out of it and it doesn't increase it's total while being healed.

It personally is not an effective troop in the clan castle they only heal your buildings

Not much. It does heal your buildings, but the few times I've had one when attacked it didn't help much. You are way better off with archers or wizards.
