I have read about strategies and tactics behind the raids and troop selection. My question is how to control the deployment of these troops to camps and how to control who goes on the raids. Are these characters randomly selected? I do I allocate to certain camps and decide which ones go on the raid?
They all go on the raid and you decide how many you deploy to win the attack or take resources. What ever troops you don't use will be in your training camp. When you return from the attack.

It depends on the amount of troops you train. If you train only 50, only 50 max can deploy. The 70 is just how many you can have in your camps at a time. Of course, many like to keep their camps full, so in your case, they would probably have 70 troops. And if only 50 deployed? You only deployed 50 of them. Hope this helped!
