Put your dark elixir in the core of your base. Either raid or lightning spell people's dark elixir, (although if they get mad they will revenge you and take more dark elixir than you took from them). Or make sure you have a full army trained before you go to sleep and then que up dark troops and subtract them the next morning.

I find this idea of queing army to sabe dark elixir great, but since u will only have minions and hogs, u really can't save that much.

I used a 8 dragon, 40 archers combo while i was at TH 7 and i managed to max the King, minions lvl 2 and hogs lvl 2, before finishing the walls
