Our clan was created in March 2013. Feel free to browse through our original recruiting thread to get a feel for how we’ve developed since then. http://forum.supercell.net/showthrea...ht=outer+adult
THE FOLLOWING INFO WAS LAST UPDATED MARCH 31, 2014
General Introduction:
- Our clan maintains a friendly, relaxed, stress/drama-free atmosphere that all clan members can enjoy.
- Our clan was established in March 2013. We are a solid, mature clan of adults that’s been thriving now for over a year! Many of our members have been with us since the beginning.
- Our preference has always been to find members who enjoy Clash of Clans as much as we do, but who are also eager to participate in clan chat. We view Clash of Clans as a fantastic game, and we find that our enjoyment of the game is enhanced by the friendships we have built with others around the world and our regular interaction within the clan. So we much prefer to have fun members who engage in chat than powerful TH10s who do not chat. We have plenty of powerful bases with max troops.
- We are primarily a clan of farmers. If you are a dedicated trophy hunter wishing to be in that type of environment, you'll no doubt be happier elsewhere. The idea of a feeder/sister clan has been discussed, but we've decided that we are sticking with The Outer Rim as a single clan. These days, with a sizeable group of respected, longstanding members, the clan tends to manage itself. While I hold the leadership ‘title’, in reality, the co-leaders, all clan members and I collectively manage any occasional issues that arise.
- We primarily donate archers. We also frequently donate wizards, minions, dragons, and hog riders. Witches, P.E.K.K.A’s, and other fun troops are made available upon request (or sometimes it just happens). We do not permit donations of other troops (goblins, giants, WB, etc.) except upon special request. And even then, you will probably still get archers because donations are filled in a matter of seconds.
Our Current Membership:
- For the most part we usually have between 45-50 members with a very low turnover.
- Our members are adults. Many of us are in our 30s and 40s (or more). Our policy is 18 years old or more, but generally even older will fit in better because we often discuss our kids and other topics that probably aren’t interesting to 18-year-olds. Also, we do not wish to have to censor our chat for a younger audience. If you are 16 or 17, you may not feel this is necessary, but WE DO.
- Most of our members are currently at TH8 or TH9, with a handful at TH7 and TH10. With a few exceptions above and below, the majority of our players currently range between levels 70 to 110.
- Our membership is drawn from across the Globe. Currently, the regional representation has an emphasis towards the US/Canada, although we also have players located across Europe and in Australia.
Social side of our clan:
- We have a mix of men and women onboard. The men outnumber the women but some of our most prominent (active/chatty) members are women.
- Having retained the core members of our clan for months (and in many instances since our inception in March 2013), people tend to feel that we really know each other even though we haven’t met in real life. Our in-game chat is lively and fun. We have a wide range of personalities. We share lots of banter and often end up laughing aloud. While we tout ourselves as “mature,” that is the subject of some debate, as we are still a bunch of goofballs who have immature fun, play pranks, etc.
- Being friendly with a willingness to participate in clan chat is more important to us than your trophy count.
- We have a clan glassboard and a private members’ forum (web address provided on joining, after ensuring a smooth fit)
- For the most part, troop requests are filled in a matter of seconds. In fact, it is common for new clan members to be concerned that they can’t donate enough troops, as requests are filled before they can react! (So far, everyone has been able to adjust with practice!)
The serious/ambitious side of our clan:
- We are a laid-back clan and we recognize that people have lives outside of the game and cannot spend 24/7/365 playing and chatting. We are proud to welcome some people that other high-level clans may dismiss. We have among us many fairly serious players. You’ll find many of our members have predominantly lvl8 skull walls, many have high level teslas (among other defences) and high level troops and heroes. You may receive lvl4 archers in your castle, but you are more likely to receive lvl 5 and 6 archers with minions and wizards mixed in.
- For those less experienced players, or anyone looking for new tips, strategies or base design suggestions, we have many experienced players willing and able to discuss game strategy with you.
- We have occasional trophy pushes. Fear not, these are optional, although most members do participate. If you’d prefer to remain fully-focused on farming at lower trophy ranges, that’s absolutely fine. However, for those interested… every couple of months we have collectively pushed to see how far we can go, both individually and as a clan. In our last trophy push, we achieved a worldwide clan rank of 940 (a new record)!
Entry Requirements / Who are we looking for?
- Active, friendly and mature adults. We only accept members aged 18+, and most members are quite a bit older.
- TH7 and above with lvl4+ archers with three or more builders. We place more importance on your in-game activity and your participation in clan chat.
Key Guidelines and Rules:
- Show respect to all clan-mates but be aware that we have a teasing atmosphere in our clan.
- Please refrain from excessive swearing. Immature behaviour, spamming of the clan chat or abuse of clan-mates will not be tolerated.
- Questions/advice/suggestions are welcomed, but every player is free to choose their own course in the game.
- Donations: Please donate generously, be patient and receive graciously. We encourage our members to use their clan castle troops in raiding and request often. While you are online, we expect members to be donating to open requests. We have found that this kind of behaviour makes donation ratios irrelevant.
- The default donation is archers. Wizards, dragons, pekkas and dark troops are also regularly donated – although by all means request/indicate your own troop type preferences. If you want something specific, usually, someone will be happy to train them specifically for you. Giants, healers, wall-breakers and goblins are not donatable troops unless specifically requested. Do NOT start donating giants to repair your ratio!
- As mentioned, donations happen quickly! Unless you arrange something specific in advance, you are likely to receive archers, minions or wizards from whoever clicks quickest. We have developed a culture in which archers and certain special troops are ALWAYS considered acceptable. Responding with anger or disappointment to any donation of troops is never acceptable. If any of this is likely to be a major problem for you, then you will have difficulty accepting the way we operate.
- Feel free to trophy hunt or farm at whatever trophy range you wish. There is no restriction, even during clan-organised trophy pushes.
- Do NOT request in the chat to be made an elder or co-leader. The only real advantage of this is to be able to invite and kick people. To avoid any 'elder-related friction', the intention is that very few promotions will be made.
- Idiots, long-term inactive players, or people who don’t fit in or make an effort to connect and interact with the group (by chatting…) will find themselves kicked before long.
Finally… You’ve read through all of the above and are still interested?
- Our clan is normally full and we often have a waiting list. We have found that our best recruits come from this recruitment thread. For your best chance of being accepted, please mention that you have read this thread in your request message!
- If we are full, you can pm me here, or send an e-mail to theouterrim1@gmail.com. These are not monitored daily, but will be checked if we have open spaces! Make sure we have a way to contact you, as our spaces never last long!
- Regardless of whether you decide to join us or not, thanks very much for your interest in our clan.
Clan Leader Justin (Jo)
