Dumping gold on walls?

Lots of people say that as they are waiting for upgrades to finish, they dump their gold on walls. But when my defences are upgrading, I save up ready to do the next upgrade. Why would you dump it on walls, it then makes it harder to save up for the next defence upgrade

What only one or two people recognize in this thread are TH level and time.

As a TH8 or below, it is very easy to dump gold into walls even hours before a builder is free and raid back the gold in order to pay for the next upgrade. Even if you only play 1-3 hours a day.

As a TH9 or above, this becomes a different story. Upgrades in 3m+ and based on averaging (per the guy above) .5m per hour, you're talking about significant raiding time based on what you have left. That means you maybe only dump gold worth 1-2 walls rather than 4-6.

I too found it very difficult to upgrade walls at TH9 (current TH) while upgrading defenses like a mad-man. I kept 5 builders busy with very little down time Oct - Jan and now that I have completed all upgrades, I am sitting with 5 builders free, upgrading walls every 1m raided and heroes every time they wake up.

The big caveat here is that if you can raid/boost for hours everyday (like the people that claim they can dump gold into walls), you can likely keep builders busy, upgrade walls as well as heroes throughout the life of your TH9/TH10. It's pretty unrealistic for those with jobs or the semi-casual gamer..

If all my builders except one is working on upgrades and i got 2.5M in storages i would dump it on walls. Why? Cause the upgrade time is so long that i have enough time to farm the gold despite dumping on walls.

Example:

3 of 4 builders are upgrading stuff and it will take 6 days until another builder is free. Instead having 350k gold available for others to raid and therefore making my base a good target i would dump them on walls. Now i have less than 10k gold available for others to raid and that would eliminate alot of possible raiders.

2 days before upgrade i can easily farm the gold i need.

This way i would upgrade my walls and at the same time be less "farmable" for for days instead of getting slammed for 6 days.

I was going to say something like this, but then fireas said it first. Dumping your gold into walls is OK if your wait time is too long.

Then they are wrong.. Remember, always max defenses first b4 doing your walls..
