Thread: What is so awesome about dragons in cc (defense)?

    I personally prefer 4 of level 5+ wizards and the rest archers. Archers as a sort of buffer when my cc actually get lured out (they have to at least destroy 1 tower to do that) before my surprise quartet makes their appearence. One lvl 5 wiz does 255 damage per shot and four of them can one shot lvl 6 giants. Had several times when 20+ giants got blown off instantly and the attacker quit a few seconds later.

    but as as from experience, drags in cc are a better bet than wizards or archers against baloons... And half the time i got raided in crystal league are with baloonions (too much gold in storage i guess). Wizards usually fell victim to the baloons that they shot down...

    against hogs, wizards are way better than drags. Two lvl 5 wizards can stop a 30 hogs raiding army the instant they fire their first shot, and thats early.. A dragon would just chase around these swines while they are being healed and stripping my village of defenses, only to be taken out by their AQ later...

    Yep, wizzies are fairly easy to kill. Light and then some barbs. Drags take longer and kill a number of troops before dying.

    I'm curious why more people don't seem to have a favorable opinion of minions as a preferred clan castle troop for defense.

    As I see it, (a) just like dragons, there are several classes of attacking troops that are defenseless against minions (barbs, giants, golems, healers, hogs, pekka, valks, goblins, balloons), and (b) like archers, with their low housing cost, they pack quite a punch when 15 of them pop out of the CC.

    The only downside I see is their vulnerability to lightening spells. Is that the reason why so few people seem to prefer them?

    When you consider all the data, dragons are the best overall defensive troop hands down.

    High DPS- Destroys high HP troops a lot quicker (such as balloons/giants, and even lower lvl drags.

    High HP- Not gonna get picked off by one kamikaze wizard, and take a beating for a while, allowing the rest of your defenses to pummel the attacking troops.

    Splash Damage- Good for taking out clumps of tier 1 troops, great for demolishing giants and hogs.

    Flies- Cannot be targeted by a good portion of army units. (Barbs, balloons, others)

    Unaffected by Spells- Due to high HP, lightning does little damage to it. Freeze spells do not affect the dragon at all.
    If being lured into a corner and getting killed is a problem, let me remind you that every other troop in the cc has that problem too.

    No other troop can claim all these things. Only wizards can claim high DPS, but one lightning will wipe out 90% of their health, if not kill them outright. They will die as soon as an archer targets them. Archers aren't too bad, but one lightning can wipe ALL of them out, or any troop with splash damage. Witches are pretty good as well, but anyone with half a brain will drop a lightning spell on them (the witches, not the skeletons). All of these are affected by freeze spells as well.
    All ground units are especially vulnerable during balloonion raids. The balloons due splash damage, and your cc troops will be almost directly underneath the balloon as it's firing. And even though they kill the balloon, it will drop
    and still do damage to them, if not kill them.

    Archers and wizards are best for defense

    Always ask for archers only because they are more and best. Dragon is good but no one donates you drag so ask for archers or wizard

    That's why you lure the clan castle beforehand.

    Well, the attacker has to waste alot of troops to kill the dragon and might prevent them to destroy your base
