You are such a hoot Glade, the perfect person to be hosting the Irish Hooley and Flong. I imagine we will all be going to heaven on Monday night, in more ways than one, what with all these gorgeously attired women and kilted gentlemen.

all that Irish dancing surely builds up a great thirst and will green beer and cocktails flowing all evening, there will be a lot of 'sleeping' going on later in the evening.

i have had a sneak peek at the magical dance floor, but my lips are sealed as I dont want to take away from your own enjoyment of seeing it for the first time. It's a good thing the Hildas are practising their dance moves, we may need some guidance in that department.

    See you all there.....

Ladies, your outfits are georgeous! Can't wait to kick up my heels & let down my hair!
"I've grown tired of the articulate utterances of men and things. The mystical in art, the mystical in life, the mystical in nature, this is what I am looking for and in the great symphonies of music, the initiation of sorrow, and in the depths of the sea I may find it. It is absolutely necessary for me to find it somewhere." -O. Wilde

    Happy St Patrick's Day, Everyone!

B'Jaysus, but I'm looking forward to the Hooley tonight, starting 5pm NZ time. The Hildas have been busy at their cookers baking traditional Irish fare and are now doing a final check that everything is spot on. Yer man, Gardener Fred, and his partner, Fred, are busy at the barbeque, new picnic tables are in place and the area newly decorated with roses. The Gardai twins, Finbar and Fingal, have taken delivery of the kegs of green beer and barrels of Irish whiskey and are keeping a watchful eye on the grog. Uncle Fion has arrived and is setting up the bar pavilion. The new, golden dance floor has been laid, and a stage build for the resident Hay Day band, Te Awe and the Snorkelling Chickens, who have been giving their fiddles a grand workout practicing the jigs and reels that will have everyone happy out leaping about the place. Begorrah, the craic agus ceol (fun and music) will be ninety, to be sure, Down on the Farm tonight! Make sure you call round for the ceili! Ceod mile failte, one and all!

OMG, what a great time the Major and I had last night at the Hooley! Of course, for a good while, the Major joined the Colonel at the beer kegs while us lasses chatted away, but when we all made our way to the beautiful golden dance floor, there was a lot of Irish flonging going on!!

You did a wonderful job as hostess, Glade! I just wish I hadn't tuckered out quite so soon. Hoping the fun will still be going tonight, as it is St. Paddy's Day here in the US now, so the Major and I can stop by and flong some more...and he's also hoping there is still some of that wonderful beer!

An absolutely brilliant evening. Sooo much fun. Chatting, drinking, flonging. Into the wee small hours, we flonged our little hearts out. The Irish theme was carried on through the music, the drinks, the food and of course through the fab attire that the guests wore. A sea of green it was, to be sure.

We were fed all things potato, fish and chips wrapped in newspaper, pies and tarts (no, not the female variety, none of that at glades event) followed by Irish coffee.

An event to remember, thanks Glade.

Fear not, fair Knitgal, the hooley continues tonight! I've saved you some potato cakes, potato bread, fish and chips, and dessert, and the Irish coffee will be brewed fresh, just for you.

'Twas a very fine Hooley indeed! As mistress of the manor Glade overlooked nothing in providing for her guests comfort and entertainment. A full day and night of hospitality and laying open her farm in welcome carried the true hallmarks of a delightful event for everyone in the valley.

Games, music, flonging, laughter, a bit of raucous trading, the Blarney Stone, and a fine Irish feast fairly fit for the Kings of Tara, the night will not long be forgotten! By the time the colonel had escorted me safely home, my cows were quite put out! They met us, hooves drumming furiously, demanding to know why they were home before me!

Speaking of the colonel, he sends along his compliments. It seems as though the whole time he and the major were in the company of Uncle Fion, Finbar, and Fingal around the keg was not spent merely discussing the history of Gaelic distilling or debating the merits of a fine vigger! Not only was he approving of the quality and quantity of the libations served, he said the lasses in their finery and verdant frocks were as glorious and sparkling as the dew starred emerald hills of Ireland!

...and he also sends his abject apologies not only to Glade, but to her rose bushes as well! He is sincerely ashamed and will gladly reimburse any damages! In defense of his lapse in judgement, there was a quite a queue at the portaloo...whether it was caused by Hilda following Fred in there or due to the alleged sighting of a gophobkin, he reasoned if there was going to be any sort of scene, a man is best suited to confront it with an empty bladder!

Happy to be a good neighbor & help whenever, but dairy/sugar/seafood cargoes are no goes. No challenges please. Communication is the key to contented players, SC!

    LOL, nearly choked.....

You have a mastery about you Jem. Your eloquence and concise but vivid description of the night is always a pleasure,
but without such a fine mistress of ceremonies who fed, watered and entertained us to such a lavish degree, there would be nothng to write about. So we raise our glasses to you Glade.
