yeah, the guaranteed reward from clearing obstacles does the same thing, and requires less programming...but either works.
But I can see that SC do indeed want to try and keep it hush-hush. Especially now with the potential compensation.

First message on the forums, just to bring my piece to the puzzle ... i've been playing for a month now, have a lvl 47 base as I play a lot with 5 builders, and I'm starting to feel c-heated by the game because of the overtim of everything I do on the game...
My research are still pretty low (working on lvl 4 now), and each research lasts ~2 hours longers than the initial "3 days".
That means I eventually always have to wait overnight and lose 10 hours of research or have to spend gems to keep the research from ending past 0:00 am (I'm working so have to get up early so wont lauch CoC past midnight most days).
I've read this thread a bit, I may have understood that supercell just doesn't give a damn about this issue ?
I think this topic should at least be on the first page so every player knows that time-wise, this game is screwing with us !
Anyway, thanks to the community for all its nice tips I read on the forums !

The time for builders and lab upgrades delays about 1 minute each hour... on the other hand, the shield time has a perfect timing! this is not a bug but Supercellīs strategy, somehow it benefits thems.
i advice to NEVER use gems to finish an upgrade early... even if you get to go to bed early tonight, when the upgrade finishes, you will have to spend gems again in order to do the same... endless loop... just wait till the morning
30 mins my barbs and archers training is not complete .......i am fed up with this and i tried it for some times and yes theres a bug supercell please fix it
Is anyone able to do any research on troop training times?
I'm not sure when I'll get around to it, but I think it needs doing to see what timer that works off.
With a timer, a giant took 2:05.24 to build when I closed the app ONCE when the training was about halfway.
I first tried just opening and closing quickly and that had no effect, but when I force quit the app and re-opened, the time took just over 5 seconds back. (I might have small error (under a second) as I was using an external clock and my hands to operate it, not a computer stop watch or a video of it)
So every time the game synchronizes with the servers, we lose about 5 seconds. So one can reduce the lag a bit by not playing at all, genious!
Okay, this had me intrigued so I tested it myself. I force quit the app four or five times while timing the training of a giant on a stopwatch. This resulted in a difference of about 20 seconds between the barracks clock and the stopwatch. It took, obviously, less than two minutes to test this (and more than two minutes to train the giant).
So the barracks also run off the glitchy timer, it's just not as noticeable because of the short duration.
