Town Hall 8 Questions - PLEASE RESPOND :)

I became a th8 about 2 days ago and I arrived with a pretty hefty sum of gold and elixir, mainly for the de drill and also the new walls. I know I probably should have waited a while before the upgrade but I needed to get the de drill so I don't have to start gemming de.
I still have th7 troops and I am around 1000 trophies (because I was farming while waiting for upgrade). However even though I have used most of the resources I had collected I am now wondering how to get more, becuase the loot penalty is making it very hard. At this time I don't really want to go attack too high level players because I know I don't really have the troops and I think my town may get destroyed at this point. However I need resources. Could anyone reccomend a trophy level which I can get a decent amount of loot off for a fairly easy battle? I would still prefer to use low cost troops because I need elixir for troops upgrades.
Has anyone got any ideas please let me know

1250-1500 for newly started TH8, if you've still got a weak base don't go higher because you'll just get raided a lot by almost maxed TH8's and TH9.

If you want to do collector raids do BaRch.

If you want to get inside and destroy Storages use Giant+Healer, WB, Archer.

Don't rely on Zapping DE for farming that takes too long, you can farm more DE by using a standard Giant+Healer army.

No I don't zap de, I just think that is wrong.
However I might do a push up to 1200 trophies or something and try my luck there. I think I will just use giants and healers, with a few archers and see what luck I have.

All my clan mates at that TH stayed at gold 3. By their replays, it seems they got amazing loots on almost constantly.

Just got to th9 2-3 weeks ago and i have a few mates still th8 and 1600-1800 seems to get a lot of collector raids and with lvl5 troops some storages once u master barch works well

edit: mastering this at th8 helps in early stages of th9 i have found

Hey Joe,

with my mini account I'm in the same situation.
I hit TH8 4 days ago from an almost maxed Th 7 (walls and defense were maxed) with full storages.

What I did 1st.

I started the de drill and lab upgrade right after. Lab will finish within one hour, de drill lvl 3 tomorow =) Will get my main army (barch) to lvl 5 asap and then my 2nd army (baloonions)

Got the new walls directly to gold and continue to upgrade, so I dump every gold I get in walls, already 10 (or so skull walls now)

With the rest of the builder I got the new defense, but still keep them low as my main goal now was/is to max the storages (gold, elix and de asap)

Once gold and elix storage are maxed I continue upgrading the defense, beginning with the new ones to get them to the same lvl as my existing.

Will then continue to upgrade one of each at the same time (1 splash, 1 AD, 1 point defense and 1 tessla) which leaves me with 1 free builder to upgrade walls or hero, still being sure to keep my gold as low as possible but as high as necessary to ba able to constantly upgrade defense and not to attract high lvl armies.

I came from silver 2 on th 7 and found my sweet spot for th 8 at (low) gold 3 (1350 - 1550), depending on the army and what I need (de, gold, elix)

So my main advice(s)
1. get the lab upgraded asap, to get the new troup lvl.
2. get the de drill to max asap
3. dump most of the gold into walls (this is the most difficult point, as you need to calculate how much gold you will need for the next upgrades, how much you can farm within the time left and not to have too much)
4. try to raid as much de as you can get, a higher lvl barb king is fun =)

last but not least (my personal advice) get the storages to max asap (at least elix)
1. This depends on your army, I use barch about 80% of the time and have 3.5 mil of elix mostly all the time, so quite often my elix storage is full and I'm loosing elix wih every attack.
2. For the troup upgrades, de upgrade etc you will need a lot of elix
3. These storages have a lot of HP, so your enemies will take longer to destroy them, what leaves you more time to kill them.
4. Almost full storages with one underleveled makes it easier for your enemies to take most of your ressources as 2 will be fuller than the other one that is underleveled (hope you get what I mean)

For 50% TH8, I say to still stay low just on Silver1-Gold3, same trophy range 1250-1500, this is based on my experience. I myself is just maybe around 40% on TH8 100 Skull Walls, and everytime I go up to 1600+ Gold2 some high level troops and BK/AQ raids me and takes my Gold. While on Gold3 1400-1500, I don't get raided much by TH9s and same level TH8's almost always fails against my base.

It depends on how often you play, if you can stay logged on for hours to farm for your upgrades then you can go higher, just make sure to spend your hard earned gold before logging out or you will get raided. If you are just an In-&-Out player, you have a lot of things to do IRL, then I say stay lower where your gold can be safe and not get raided that much by higher TH's.

Strong th8s farm at gold 3 (best spot).
Nearly maxed th8s farm in gold 2 (for DE) or push to crystal for fun.

Don't go after DE. You will have enough of it later.

For farming sessions you may try sub200. It's fun there. Though not for people who lack patience to max th7.

Thanks to all that has helped me out here. I brought the de drill and the new defence. I have all the new walls up to level 3 atm. I just dont have hardly any money now. Trying to get trophies to go up to about 1200 where people suggested.

Any new ideas keep them coming. Going to try barch strategy and will post how it works for me later.
