Why everyone is using 'lloonions?
Why nowadays Balloonions is the most used strategy, also in champions league?
There is precise reason?
Cook Price? Cook Time? The top players layout aren't good against 'lloonions?
What's the reason?
As a th8, after my experience in FE 2 and the great replay i saw, i have decided to practice balloonions and for this reason i'm going to upgrade very soon balloons and minions.
Balloons/Minions and/or Dragon have a number of advantages:
1. Cheap. Usually under 100K elixir and 700DE
2. Extremely High DPS and Health for your army
3. Fairly easy to use once you get the hang of it.
4. Trains fast - under 50 minutes even for a balloon/drag heavy army
It makes them a very attractive army for guys who dont want to drop 3-4K de for GoWiWi or 200K elixir/2K de for gowipe or 400K elixir for mass drag!
And those armies all take 1:30-2 hrs to train. So a no brainer.

Everytime i get looniand it seems to me there isnt that much strategy to it. Its just all about brute force. I aint hating cause i like playing that way too but this is my take on this attack. Its just plain easy to use and a guarantee investment.
There are a few reasons that balloons and minions are so popular right now. The short answer is the loot change.
Prior to the loot change everyone was farming with cheap quick armies. Barchers, BAM, and to a lesser extent giants and healers. The problem is that when the loot change came, farming off the low level bases to which those armies are suited for demolishing became less profitable (due to the way available loot is calculated).
Balloonian attempts to bridge the gap between a cheap & quick farming army with a more powerful trophy hunting army. You can make balloonians in ~ 45 minutes or so depending on how many balloons you want and what your army camp space is. The strategy is relatively cheap in that it can pay for itself and then some (which is hard / impossible to do with more powerful compositions). It is also good at destroying a wide range of bases and is not fully reliant on spells (but like any other comp they obviously help).
In short: balloonian is a good balance of build time, cost, and attack potential. It allows for a profitable assault on bases that are too strong to be attacked by traditional farming armies. The desire to farm these stronger bases comes from the loot change.
Some humble advice from someone who was once th 8 like yourself:
At th 8 you are a bit early to the party. You should be using your dark on your king rather than investing in dark troop research or construction. Dark troops won't start paying for themselves until crystal 3, gold 1 at a stretch. You should be using barbs and archers or giant healer to farm.

It's probably just because of cost, time and how easy they are to use. GoWiWi is the most used in Champ league though because loons only get you one star up there and are used like barching picking off stuff for 50%. Serious champs using em at high trophy levels with 5 spells use around 32 loons and just minions to clean up much like a hog attack where all the defence is wasted leaving the defenceless shell of the base.
Because I don't play more than once an hours, so training time doesn't matter. Elixir is plentiful, so that's not an issue. Why Balloons over, say wizards?mwell, I can spam them and win via brute force. (Just like hog riders. But don't tell anyone that.)

Depending on which style of ballinion (and all other names for the same attack lol)
You can effectively farm or trophy push well into champs league the reason for this is numerous.
My personal style is picking off all 4 sides to hit res and 50%
The army is cheap to run with
The build time is very very low
Sometimes 50% can be achieved without using any spells (a huge bonus in M1 and champ) due to camp layout
Many players still have lv 4 air defence in masters league
A cc full of minions can wipe a lv 40 arch queen if lured to corner
Barb king is useless in this style of attack as he cannot hit air troops
Minions DE cost is pretty much funded through league bonus so is easy to farm Dark elixer
There are numerous reasons but hopefully those ones outlined the main ones for youenjoy your day and good luck when you try ballinion
