Actually kind of agree if you want to play without gems you have to play like 12hours per day and that's ridiculous. TH 8 and already having problems with resources needed. If I could actually play 12 hours of course I could pay for everything but I have a social life to live and can't clash all the time, and that means that the only way to get to the leaderboards and stuff is if I spend a ton of cash on gems.

of course you have to pay to be "competitive", if youre talking about top 200 something along the lines of that. there are millions of people who play this game, you have to make sacrifices to be on top. its up to you if you want to push that high or have a 100% maxed based. you can do so with effort (maxed base) but you can still have fun and be competitive, just not top of the world.

Lol I'm in law school... In no way could you call this a Ponzi scheme. In the way you see it, Walmart would be considered a Ponzi scheme. Why would SC want to put a daily spending limit?... Would Walmart cut you off half way through checking you out and tell you that you can't buy anything else today?

I spend about $40 a month on gems, because I love the game. I only boost my barracks and spell factory - it's the most cost effective way of playing. I bring in $4m to $8m a day on raids playing while I'm studying and working. Even if I don't boost my barracks I can still hit $8m a day... Just takes longer.

Actually, I've been playing this game for almost 2 years, and I never spend a dime on it (I only played 1 hour a day). And I find this game entertaining, and does not really require someone to buy gems

C'mon how about our life, we work to get money, to pay for what we like, then new things come in and we have to pay again. CoC exactly like that, its never be a fair game but what you do in the game, how you raid is the fun to keep you from playing. Dont just look at the ending which never end.
I remembered the movie "Click" which Adam Sandler had a remote control to skip the time he didnt feel like in life. The result is he skipped all the "fun" time to come to the end he could never be satisfied.

For me it's all about the journey. Lets say you max out your base th10 every wall every defense. Then what? This game keeps me going because I can constantly upgrade my base. It's fun. It kills time. I enjoy it. And the best part? You don't even have to pay. I'm over level 100 without even spending money.
