A Ponzi scheme is where someone pays old investors using the new investors money and shows higher returns on investments than others. this is not what supercell is doing. instead of getting no returns you get satisfied with what you have done. Also imaging upgrading something like buying an iPad with increased storage for more money than a lower model, its the way economy works
Also many players, including myself spend time raiding resources not spending money on the game. spending money is only necessary to stay at the top leaderboard spot.

Te people who spend gems choose to do this. They could have made the decision to not gem. I never bougt gems and I'm th7 and lvl 61, gold 2 league

You just stated what most people think prices supercell charge are ridiculous coc is great and highly addictive lots ppl spend $1000s it's overpriced net shows how bad corporate greediness has gone. I agree with the OP only for one reason. The gem "rewards" for being in the top 3 clans are outrageous. You can get thousands of gems for free just by buying your way to the top of the ladder. If everyone won gems for, lets say winning their league, then I would be fine with having them their own top-of-the-world rewards.

I hope you know that staying up there is AMAZINGLY difficult. The competition is like nothing you've seen. Also, those 2000 gems are NOTHING for the top players. They could spend that on their troops in less than a day.

Yea this game is pay to win but its not impossible to get around that.
ex, s.s got to top 200 in the world with barely spending anything and then he quickly dropped haha

I remember in minecraft on a raiding server my friend never "donated" (payed to get perks) and he still had lots of the stuff me and many other guys we fought had, sure he worked harder but he was better then most
