Guide on How to Use Gimp

This will be a guide on to use GIMP. GIMP is definitely the best free program out there. Do what I tell you to do as you read this tutorial. Let's get right into this.

    Some helpful links:

    1. First, you will want to make a new project. On your keyboard, do Command N or click File > New.

    • Make the dimensions 800 x 600
    • Now, you should have a screen like this:

    • Press OK.
    • NOTE: The dimensions in the picture are wrong; put in 800 x 600.

    2. You should now have a blank canvas. Now, let's make a background.

To make the background, we need a gradient. To make this, click the blend tool in the left toolbar. The blend tool is the icon to the left of the small pencil.

Click on one of the circled squares after selecting the blend tool.

Then choose a color for the first square, and click okay.

Then do the same for the other square.

Now, with the gradient tool, make a line from one side to another.

    You should get this:

    Now, we have our background.
The rest of this is under construction. I'll be finishing the rest of the guide within the next few days. I will also be making other tutorials the following week.

Not a bad tutorial... I'd reckon Photoshop if you're going for 2d images such as signatures - I use cs7. I'd also reckon cinema 4d if you're going for 3d text.

No one really buys photoshop or any other expensive products out there. They just get cracked versions which is basically getting it for free.

Which is illegal, and more importantly against the rules on the forum. I pay for mine monthly.

As much as you think you get the same product, you don't. Free programs dont get the updates that monthly payers get, they can also carry viruses and are a bigger risk. If your serious about using photoshop you should buy it.
