Can't help but notice that we only find these raids when using half our regular troops.

Lol, I would probably do it the other way around. Assuming DE Drills haven't been collected recently you would get more from zapping drills, then anything left over save for the DE storage. But be warned any talk of this will frowned upon by many ppl in the forums.
