When posting a request to trade food items, I have found if most helpful to post what you need and what you have to trade, at what price or ratio, like is done on the trading thread. Also post your GC ID, or if you are an Android player, an offer to use Facebook.

For example:

I need 48 milk for my boat, and can trade 12 lobsters or 24 sugars for them. Partial trades welcome.

I can sell at default and will buy at max price.

My GCID is X. Add me and lets make a deal!

In my experience, specific offers get more attention and generate more trade interest.
