Why isn’t SC spreading the word about the diamond confirmation option?

....but there IS a reason. Simply put, the reason given isn't accepted by most. That's fine because it doesn't have to be accepted in order to be a reason. Accepted or not, the reason given is game flow. You don't have to accept it. It's still the reason.

That's why it's not on by default.

Are there any other explanations that you'll accept? Nope. You've drawn your conclusions so what is it you're seeking? Validation? You already know they want to "steal" from those that aren't paying attention. What's remaining? Most already agree with you as stated in previous threads.

Again, I know SC has mentioned a reason but it's not a valid reason.

Having this option option enabled DOES NOT affect game flow, in a negative way.

I'll accept any valid reason for it not being enabled by default, but this is just not a valid one.

I could make a poll about who thinks enabling the diamond confirmation by default would affect game flow in a negative way, but some one else can do that.

I think we all know the outcome of that poll.

That's just it. They don't need you to accept their reasoning. They don't need you to validate their reasoning. It's THEIR reasoning.

I wear purple socks on rainy days. It makes me smile. That doesn't make sense to you, but it doesn't have to. It's MY reason and it's THE reason regardless or your understanding, acceptance, validation, or agreement.

The same applies with the reason SC has given regarding game flow.

Well...lucky i stumbled on this thread because I had no idea whatsoever this feature had even been implemented!
Focus seems to be on everything else but this (including ridiculously costly donkeys!)

Not everyone reads 'release notes' (wherever the heck 'they' are BTW), just as they never read the fine print in documents and contracts etc.

I guess i have some searching to do now...no idea where 'release notes' or even 'advanced settings' are located though...

I guess i am the one to blame about the donkey thread Donsta! LoL, i hate the thought of spending 20 golden vouchers on a brown helidonkey!

I do read these tiny little notes thats usually hidden away coz I was stung once on an insurance claim coz I hadnt read the miniscule footnotes where you needed a large spying glass to read them! Yes they wouldnt pay out! I wont tell you what my expletives were as they are not allowed on this forum and they may offend readers. So I am probably more careful than others

Same here. And I thought I read the "release notes", too. I read what was being offered up at the Apple site before I downloaded it. I guess the reference was too cryptic for me. Well, I will now be going to the game settings and turning this on....

If someone doesn't read the release notes, that's on them. SC puts them out there.

We complained that there wasn't a confirmation button. Now that there is, we complain that SC didn't make it automatic, so that we don't have to do ANY work. We also complain that they didn't tell us in every shape and form imaginable.

I've lost a few diamonds since I started playing in June. However, I guarantee you that with all of the diamonds that SC gives free (take these 3 for maintenance updates, here are 5 in a red box, etc) that I am more than ahead with free diamonds than I am behind with those lost.

If powdermonkey , Donsta & myself with a total of over 1300 posts between us ( hence very active forum members ) didn't notice this ..I feel sorry for the other farmers who don't even use this forum .

To be honest Donsta it's been years ( well nearly 2) & not months that this has been the most talked about request. I'm just amazed that it wasn't more publicised from SC.
But I for one are very grateful now we have it and say Thank You SC ... And yes I have purchased some diamonds since.

Hi Helen, don't get me wrong, I'm happy the confirmation button is finally there!

I'm only questioning the way and how they have implemented it.

1. Option is not enabled by default for everybody. While game play will not be (negatively) affected if this had been done.

2. Not mentioning it specific (DIAMOND CONFIRMATION ADDED) in the release notes.

3. It still doesn't work everywhere, even when the option is enabled.
There's no confirmation asked for the following:
- hire TOM (start at 15 diamonds)
- open mystery box (3 diamonds)
- make diamond ring (1 diamond)
- make mystery net (5 diamonds)
- make product when you don't have enough ingredient
- get new spin from the Wheel of Fortune (start at 1 diamond)
- fill boat/truck order when you don't have the item (start at 1 to many many diamonds)
- call the next boat (5 diamonds)
- plant crop you have none of by dragging into the fields
- buy diamond-cost decoration by dragging into the farm
- use diamond to order mystery package or decoration package

Here's my thoughts

I have played electronic games a lot longer the some of you. I hated our Atari with its space invaders and asteroids so I sold it to my insurance man. Talk about pay back!!! Anyway I have noticed that most of these games leave a lot unsaid in the tutorials and sometimes come out with absolutely no directions at all. Seems counter intuitive but luckily the internet came to the rescue. If you look you will see a lot of "walk throughs" to get it all figured out. Look at the wikis and guides in this forum alone. Without it, all those who don't use it, lose a lot more than diamonds if you really think about it. So in that supercell is no different. We just have to accept that they won't tell us everything. Like it or not, that happens.

Why did they not make it the default? I suspect it was a compromise. Some people at HQ wanted the button, others liked the game without it. Call it greed if you want but let's face it, greed is everywhere and if you watch certain movies you hear that greed is good. ;-). And I think most of us will agree that if making money wasn't something we all desired, very little would be made, and we wouldn't admire the philanthropists so much. And let's face it, greed helped folks like Bill Gates make the money that he gives away. I just wish he'd give some to me.

So semi hiding it and not making it the default was probably a compromise to get the thing implemented. The forum got a hint since we were the ones complaining the most.

Why doesn't it work everywhere you might spend diamonds? Well if you look closely, the largest numbers of complaints were for accidental use to speed up crops, they shrunk the space around it but that didn't satisfy us so the button was born. I never saw a complaint that said," I wanted to hire Tom but I didn't know he would cost diamonds." It's pretty obvious that he does and we do get a warning when we use our last crop. I suspect we got the warning for the mystery net and the diamond rings because they were so close to the regular net and the necklace. I am assuming the warning is still there about those. The other things clearly state that they cost diamonds and since we like being treated like adults I think we should realize those are not subject to accidental diamond usage. Just as parents who let their toddlers play with their $400.00 device should know that they are going to tap in places they wouldn't , we should be able to figure out that when something says it is going to cost diamonds that taping on it will cost us diamonds. Do we really need a wet paint sign to tell us sitting on the bench is a mistake. (And I am not taking about Apple refunding money for child purchases of in app purchases. That was due to the fact that apple didn't tell parents that their password would remain in effect for 15 min. The internet told everyone, but Apple didn't),

Anyway. That's what I think. Would I have been happier if they shouted it from the roof tops? Sure. But I am glad it is there and will tell anyone who asks how to put it back on. Unfortunately, since many of us are adults and some even remember when the internet was completely free as long as you paid your ISP, we know things change. And as night follows day, commerce has finally found us. We are all also old enough to know that nothing is ever really free, reverse mortgages really do have a catch, and shipping and handling charges are always more than the actual postage.

I agree with Tiggerr ( and I am glad you are still around).

I do believe that you should read the update information before downloading, but even if you had not, there were threads explaining how to switch the confirmation on within an hour in this forum.

If something says it costs diamonds, do not click on it.

But what most people complained of, like finishing crops or getting animals ready by mistake has now been solved.

To be honest I had only once an issue for a few weeks when actually diamonds disappeared and following many posts it stopped with the next update, even if a problem was never officially acknowledged. But for spending diamonds by mistake, i took it as a lesson learned and slowed down a bit.

I think it is understandable that SC is not shouting about it, diamond sales is their way of making money with this game.
