I have to disagree.
OK, B0ssH0gg spent less on gems than Dracula did, and has invested time farming.
But let's not pretend that the gem investment is not massive and still growing.
It's not really a confirmation, if I never pay I can guarantee you I'll never be #1, maybe even never top 200.
I've never paid and never will because I don't believe in investing in freemiums. Others do, but getting to the top makes it more than a freemium in which you invest $10 or $25 in, it makes it a thousand dollar plus investment.
I think everyone has their own right to invest their money how they choose but don't pretend that the money investment to be a top player is absolutely massive.

It really depends on your financial situation though... For all we know the top players might earn 7 figures so a couple grand is a drop in the bucket to them. However for the regular middle class 1 g on a mobile game is just silly.
His impressive 'farming' stats are courtesy of countless gemmed gowiwi attacks.
Nice to see someone like that at the top of the leaderboard, but he is no farmer.
