As for now I think it would be best to jump in get started and figure things out as you go along. It is much easier to come ul with solutions for stuff when you run into them as opposed to trying to figure it out all in advance.

The thing is we can't explain how hoods are supposed to work as that is totally up to the people in the hood how you like dynamics to work. For now it is primarily a chat feature. You can chat about everything in game and for example announce my boat is in. Or is anyone willing to sell / trade xyz and so on. You can help each other out on events and such so more people can meet their personal goals when there is a boat event or loom event like we had.

Feel free to ask more questions and we will look into answering them as best as we can but we are all still on a learning curve. It is shiny, sparkling and brand new so it needs time but I am conviced it's a huge addition to the game in the end.
Thanks for the info, but I don't understand about visiting. Does this mean you leave your current hood to crash a randomly selected hood that you haven't received an invitation to join? So anyone can enter our hood whenever they like and say they are just visiting, or can they only enter if they have been invited?

Does it cost anything to join a hood, or only to set up a hood? We have a neighbour who felt bullied by the scarecrow into forming her own hood, but wants to join our hood. Will she have to pay to leave her own hood and join ours?

having answers to these two questions would really help, please.

So although you can see CATHERINE's badge, unless you know what that neighbourhood is called and can search for it, you might struggle to get into the same one.

Or you can start your own.
i found this on another thread. I think we have agreed that our hood should be by invitation only and Lady Jem will have the power (to invite, that is) as she will be the leader, but with the agreement of the group.

I also saw that Lady Jem gets to choose the badge from a selection - do we want input into this selection? Anyone know which animals or designs we can choose from?

I did have to re-load my farm (visited another farm, then came back), but now he's gone!

    And it was free.
Answering my own questions again ... This would seem that as soon as we open our house the scarecrow will appear, but when we receive and accept Lady Jem's invitation to join the Down on the Farm hood, he will disappear, and it doesn't cost anything to join the hood.

Mods, please confirm, if you would.

There are a lot of options to allow for flexibility of use, but it can seem daunting at first. The Neighborhood leader can adjust settings for their group accordingly.

Joining can be open, or invite only. Invites can also be distributed per the leader or others she delegates as co-leaders. So if you don't want random people just hopping in, then you can change the settings to prevent that.

Likewise, if you have a problem Neighbor, you can dismiss them.

There is a (small) cost in coins to make and join neighborhoods, but it seems pretty negligible.

Crashing your thread for a second. My scarecrow comes back everytime I enter my farm, so just joining one doesn't get rid of him. It's possible something else got rid of him for some of you and you didn't notice. So that annoyance is still there .

Not crashing, your input is welcome, especially as that is important info. So SC are forcing us to spend 500 coins just to get rid of the bullying scarecrow? Not good! It's like paying protection money to the local mafia. LOL. It really is a "hood".

My NHBS is now complete, and Im about to create the Down on The Farm NH. Step 1 is to create a badge which consists of a choice of 6 colors (red, green, blue, purple, pink, gold), the shape of the badge (square, round, round w/ saw blade edges, shield), & a variety of emblems also in 6 colors (crossed saw & shovel, chicken, pig, horse, dog, cat, mouse, goat, fish, lobster, bat, truck, silhouette of Greg, silhouette of Mary P.), and a background behind the emblem (solid, checkerboard, bull's eye, and something else).

If your NHBS is repaired please look at these settings to get a better idea of what Im trying to describe. Just playing with the settings does not commit you to a NH. There are also options for the type of NH desired (open to all, open to requests, invitation only). A players level can also be set before joining, 29 being the minimum.

As proposed leader I'd like to be democratic about this from the get go, so am seeking input from each of you. Speak now or forever hold your peace!! That sounded less democratic and more like being sentenced to life!!

This will give you an idea of what we're looking at.

I liked the color contrast of Te Awe in full tilt mode of green for Go against the red of slow down and take it easy play style and the clean lines of the square with a classic gingham checkerboard pattern. I'm fine with 29 being the minimum join level, and vote for this to be an invitation NH over just having anyone being able to crash at least during the soirée. If I understand correctly, these settings can be adjusted in the future, so there's no danger of becoming elite snobs!

    What say you?

Te Awe gets my vote. Background is ok. My building is still under construction, so going by your description and what I have seen on other farms, I wonder what Te Awe (I'm ok with green) on a gold rosette (saw blade) background would look like? I'm tempted to speed up my building just to play with the options .
