Hi, I recommend farming with BARCH or BAG ( Barbs and archers or barbs, archers, and goblins) in the 1000-1100 trophy range. I recommend only attacking level 5 bases that give you more loot than you spent. If you can't find a lot of TH 5 bases , try the range of 900-1000. Hopefully this helps, and personally I prefer BARCH over all strategies, in fact, it is the only strategy I use. Also if you are having trouble defending, you may be tempted on upgrading your defenses. However, I highly recommend you first upgrade and max your offenses. That includes researching the troops you will be using the most in farming( barbs and archs, or also gobs if you decide to use BAG) , army camps, and barracks. Strong troops will allow you to win more, more space in army camps will allow you to have a stronger army, and maxed barracks will allow you to train faster. With maxed out offenses, then you will find yourself gaining more loot because you are raiding more often and gaining more. Ultimately, once you have maxed offenses, you will now be able to easily farm gold for defensive buildings.
Edit: Oh I thought you meant you lose defenses a lot, but I read again and you mean you lose the attacks. Ok, once again I will just say I encourage attacking one townhall below you. Trying to attack TH 6 or TH 7 is probably hard with level 3 troops. You can attack TH 6 if they have lots of loot and weak, but don't try a maxed TH 6. Good luck!

When I was in TH6, I hover between 850-1300 trophy. But mainly between 930-1200 range.
What above poster says is true. Spend all to research max for the army type you use. The 10-30% troop improvement really helps.
Initial TH6, I use 14-18x Giant and 2x Healer strategy, with remaining few BAG for clean up. Only attack those with single AD or in-upgrade.
Slow in training army, but effective. Attack only early TH6 or lower.
Read more from forums and watch youtube on the strategy to attack. Where and when to place troops, the timing is important. Watch replay on how you lost, can learn a lot from there. That's how I switch to BArch & BAG strategy (cheaper cost) at the end of TH6.

I'm currently level 5 and most of the time attack 6 or 7 with very good success with looting, sure I lose a few trophies here and there but I don't care about that at this stage anyway. Using mostly barb, arch 5-7 giants and 4 wall breakers.
Everything maxed for me and going to 6 in couple days. Currently at 1124 trophies.

my mini account is th6 as well and i snipped my way to crystal (for the gems) and on my way there gold 1,2 was by far the best place to farm! of course every time you log off do not expect that you will win any attacks but what you lose cannot compare to the loot you win when you are online!!!! right now i dropped and i am currently farming at gold 2 range! hope this helps!

As a townhall 6 I've been floating between 950-1150 and had great success.
Usual army composition is 1-2 healers, 12-16 giants, ~24 goblins, 6 wallbreakers.
Attack bases with 200k minimum resource combined and at least 50k elixir. Never have trouble finding potential victims, but tend to struggle hoarding elixir - swimming in gold though.
I recommend Silver or Gold.

I'm th6 too. If i'm farming or going for trophies (which rarely ever do) I always use the giant healer or Bag strategies.
Giant-Healer: 15 giants, 5 wallbreakers, 1 healer, the rest u can fill with barbs archers or if u want goblins, wizards or balloons. Without wizards and Balloons this takes me 14-25mins to train.
Bag: 50 Barbs, 50 archers, 50 Goblins/ 48 Barbs, 48 Archers, 48 Goblins, 3 Wall Breakers.
My trophy rage is always 1100-1398
Push up to 1500 - 1700, you may be an easy target but you will be attacked by many town hall 8's and 9's and they will have a massive loot penalty, unless they are going for trophies.
Up in that trophy range there are many many inactive bases that float around, it will take some time to find them but sooner or later you will find a town hall lvl 7 or 8 etc with lvl 11 collectors overflowing with gold/elixir. A nice 400k+ loot of each within those collectors and it's easy to obtain that loot with archers and barbarians. Don't specifically look for 3 stars, you're just a town hall 6 remember.
if you go ahead with this, on your way up it's very easy to overwhelm a town hall 5, or 6 with a full archers army. (depending on how many troops you can carry)
It's just a 12 minute wait i'm assuming at that town hall lvl for all those archers to train up but that's nothing compared to the giant healer strategy + potion.s
