When to Upgrade to TH 9 (since new loot change)

I know the done thing is to fully max your base, which is what I'm currently trying to do. I'm at TH 8 farming at around 1600-1650. Although I'm slowly upgrading stuff, it's quite honestly boring gameplay given that raids don't yield as much loot as they used to. I'm trying to keep my 5 builders busy and have nothing left to upgrade that's less than 2 million gold.

I've seen people saying that having a premie base isn't as much of a sin since the loot system change. Can anyone advise what I should prioritise in terms of upgrades (listed below) and when is a reasonable time to move to TH 9?

Storages and collectors are maxed
Canons are L10 (max)
Mortars are L6 (max)
Camps are L6 (max)
Wiz Towers are L5
Archer Towers are L9
Air Defense are L5
Teslas L3 (one currently upgrading to L4)
Walls approx. 50% L6 50% L7
Troops and spells are all maxed (except troops I don't use, which I'm upgrading anyway)
Barb King is L2

I know it's a long way off maxed but I want advice on which upgrades to focus on since they're becoming pretty expensive.

Splash, Teslas, AD are must to max before moving up.
If you are in a hurry, You could compromise with pointed defenses by 1/2 levels.

Moreover, if loot is bad in TH8 for you, remember that comparatively TH9 yields lesser, cause you cant attack th7s anymore. TH8 is a paradise with lvl 5 troops when compared to premie th9.
Choose wisely.

How do i know ? : I was a Premie th9 with lvl 2 AD and lvl 1 teslas. Still have not maxed to th8 levels. Premie's have a very long journey at some point or another

EDIT : Premie TH9 get attacked by TH7, TH8, TH9 and TH10. You would tend to lose much more resources as Premie th9 than TH8

I guess I'll aim to continue to max the TH 8 base. I just keep seeing TH9 bases that are way lower in terms of upgrades and just thought I had perhaps missed a trick and should maybe move up.

Not that it matters too much, but would you guys prioritise teslas or wizard towers for upgrading first?

would recommend wizards, ad, and level 7 walls at least before you head to th9.

also, maxing bases can get tedious, but just remember that if you go up now they'll just be more buildings you'll need to max, and less loot to do so with

choice is always yours though, so do whatever's more fun for you!

I'm th8 with maxed splash. I'm having enough gold to keep 3 builders doing cannons, 4th upgrading barracks. I'm in silver1 and feel no reason to go up, cause I can live without DE (lab upgrading dragons).

If you bored - do a push, try sub 200, earn achievements - find a way to entertain yourself. Becoming premmie th9 would be no entertainment, for sure.

Having said that, Moving up faster is also an advantage/fun. If i take myself as example, i don't really repent on being premie th9. Because i got lvl 6 troops much earlier and it was more fun for me. I could experiment with high level troops with low experience of using them.
I never planned to play this long. Wanted to have all the experience while i could.

On the other hand, my mini account is approaching fast to max th8. i think my mini will surpass me on longer run (Ofcourse he got the advantage of 8 months of prior experience(Failures)

So remember that its a game, do what is more fun for you. Because its just a game.
I dont hv plans to become number 1 player in the world. Spend some time with clan, donate, try different army composistions. fail hard and laugh, succeed and cry ... or whatever

Haha, all good points! I'm gonna work on my base more before moving up. Can't guarantee I'll max L8 walls though... I think that would make me cry!

It depends on gold grab a lot. A player, who maxes walls before cannons, because he gets so much gold - may go premmie for fun.
A player, who doesn't get excess gold - probably shouldn't...

Actually, archer towers doesnt need to be lvl 9, you can leave them at 8. They arent really that good and they can be taken down pretty quick. Cannons and teslas do a better job. Archer towers cost kinda alot too
