Trouble is however, lowering the next costs is done in a jiffy, 'guaranteeing' a nice target within 30 searches is just silly.

It's a nice idea Stitch. Not sure it's the skeleton key to the problem though.
100% of the frustration for me is the cost. My army takes at least 15m to build, so I can next for 15m without any actual time loss. The idea of it costing me more to look for a raid than I make is infuriating. If nexting takes too long without emptying my storages, at least i can stop and try later without having lost my shirt in the process.

Also consider each bit of gold lost nexting is more raiding i have to do. Furthermore higher town halls next a lot more than lower ones and at a much higher cost. However there are way fewer of us. Thus this solution is likely to help lower ths a lot more than higher ones.

I much rather have a solution that keeps loot in my pocket as opposed to putting it in other people's.

    Completely remove the "Next" cost.

I don't agree with that, but the costs should tail off. Like drop the price by 5% per search after the first 10-20 until the costs reaches 25%.

The problem with "next button" suggestions is that it doesn't deal with my biggest grip.

    Hitting that button is boring.

When I hit next for 10 minutes, I am bored. Sure SC could alleviate the pain of his boredom by offering that money to me defensively but chances are the impact on me will be small.

Cost wise, I've very rare had to hit next so often that I don't make it up in the raid. The only time I truly experienced this was while trophy hunting, and it wasn't sparked by loot.

But at this point I just want more gold in the system.

Well this goes to show there are two camps in the nexting problem. Perhaps Stitch should make a poll on what people find worse when nexting: the time or the costs. I cannot argue with your experience, since everbody has their own standards on what they find frustrating, or how many time they want to spend on CoC to begin with.

Good point on the inequal TH-level spread by the way. I would put a 1000 gold into a TH8's pocket of which I can only steal 50% back, if his storages are full enough.

I honestly cannot reconcile this point of view. You have to wait for your army to build regardless of whether you're hitting next or not. How can doing something you have to do anyway bother you more than the resource loss? The whole reason you're hitting next to begin with is to gain resources which can be completely negated by the next button costs.

Keeping the gold in the game would help clearly as there's more gold to go round.

I can see why the various proposals have been added to the rejected ideas list as they could easily be abused. For example, paying the gold to the "nexted" village could turn wall farming into sitting at 800 trophies protecting the TH and not raiding. You might well get more loot for being inactive that active, that's the wrong way round.

Having read the other proposals in this thread, my view is that a slight reduction in the cost of nexting is the best option, but that doesn't address a significant number of peoples concerns about the next button.

This is true, but even with a 15 min build time you could be doing other things with the 10 mins if you find a raid straight away - chat, web surf, get drinks etc. You don't have to stay in game.

Are you TH10? Because at th10 if you hit next for 10m you are definitely getting into loss territory.

Understandably but for that to annoy more than the resource loss? If you want a drink, just stop nexting and get one.
