So essentially, you're suggesting to upgrade a fairly expensive upgrade (ie. Archer Towers) and quickly make up and farm for the upgrade cost (back to 8 Mil Gold), then as soon as TH10 finishes, buy 1st Inferno (Gold is now 5 Mil), then cancel the archer tower upgrades to earn another 8 Mil (if I assign at least 2 builders on my archer towers).

If that was what you meant, thank you sooo much for that! Although I can't do it for elixir as I have no more elixir upgrades to do that.

But if the strategy works, this is my current upgrade plan:

*Starting out with 8 Mil Gold + 8 Mil Elixir

Gold wise: Buy 1st inferno (Gold 3 Mil), Cancel all (2) of my archer tower upgrades (Gold 7 Mil), buy 2nd inferno (Gold 2 Mil), Buy, as well as constantly upgrade new archer tower + cannon, while farming non-stop for 2-3 hours (Gold 4 Mil), buy 3rd x-bow (Gold 1 Mil), continuous farming.

Elixir wise (not much has really changed): Upgrade laboratory (Elixir 4 Mil), Upgrade spell factory (Elixir 800k), continuous farming for army camps

I really like this current plan, it really gets ALL of the major upgrades over and done with, especially both infernos as well as that 3rd x-bow. But I'm still considering cancelling my lab and using that 5th builder to keep upgrading my new archer tower/cannon/walls since I'm worried my gold might 'overflow' until my first builder gets free (6 days).

Anyways, I'd love to hear more feedback on this current plan. Can't thank people like you enough!

So i realized once you sit on 20k DE you become easy prey for those TH9 hoggers and my defenses became obsolete. Even with maxed defenses i'd stand no chance.
With anti-hog bases the giwipe/gowipes will wreck my base. With non-anti hog bases the hoggers will still wreck my base.
How do i get myself to 40k DE and stay there. Was it the "always get more after what's yours is taken" strategy?

if you're a TH8, then there is no other way ... You must make more than your loss to save for AQ...
not just those premier farming troops will get you, simple Lv.6 Giants or even BARCH with strong AQ can easily got all your DE too.

If your a th8 you can't defend your de at all so its just a game of hoping you get the sniped. But its mainly just a marathon game. You can't just log in and do a raid then log out and go on defense. You can till you hit your point where you will be attacked then you gotta make sure to stay on for several attacks. Its not that hard to just touch the screen occassionally while you do other things till armies ready.

Also things dont change too much at th9 yeah we can hold a lot more but my queen is now 90k De so in have to session it once I hit 40-50k de to get to 70 or so than another session to hit 90.

I'm looking to upgrade to TH9 for the offense improvements for clans wars (AQ, Army Camps, Level 6 troops), but i'm still unsure if I should do it. I usually raid TH8+ and I don't have any problems getting loot, and my elixir storages are often full, except when I start my lab upgrades.

Hello, first of all I would like to thank you for the inspiring and helpful topic that you made. I've been looking at this thread for some time trying to adopt some of your tactics. Yesterday my town hall upgraded to level 9. I was pretty much maxed out as a level 8 town hall but since yesterday(after I got to town hall 9) I literally have found 0 collector bases out there with more than 120k gold. I'm trying to farm at the moment with my trophie range close to +- 1600. Any advise? Do you remember in what range you were farming or where I should farm at the moment? Cause I sae you were having really good loot raids. Thanks in advance and again thank you so much for inspiring me.

Now i have a bit hard time because my lab will be finished but i am a bit struggle finding elixir without using spell and collector raid is really rare. What do you think ? I am using bam around gold 2.

then you're fine to upgrade...

don't upgrade only if you're highly depends on loot from TH7 guys.

loot is always moving, there is no exact place you will get constant loot.
when I'm TH9, I hover around 1550-1600-1650-1700-1750-1800

If you can't find anything, just push a little to 1700+, and if loot there begin to dried, then drop down...
that's how I manage to constantly getting about 5 million / day when I'm on TH9.

3. going premie is better for CW.
You have no chance against hogs/loons attack as a TH8, even the Lv.1 Hogs will crush your base easily. By upgrading to TH9, you will get extra stuff and bombs to build the anti-hog base. Lv.5 hogs will still get you. But those low level hogs will get burned.
For your attacking force, you get more spells, Lv.6 Giants, Witch and AQ. You can opt for GiWiWi attack for clanwars than can wipe almost all TH9.
If you want hogs, it's better to go TH9 too since farming DE will get much easier after you get Lv.6 Giants.

Althought i agree with you about being premie in normal farming life, I have doubt with you about premie in clan war. Upgrading your th causing your strength ranking to go up significantly. This can cause your clan to be matched with much stronger enemy clan than before the upgrade. Althought there are many conditions to be judge when doing clan war matchmaking, i really think this is one of the things to consider

I think clan war matchmaking is based on defensive and offensive strength. Town hall level doesnt matter.
