So, I'm very tired of everyone keeps saying to max everything.
It works, but it's too slow and not efficient way to progress for some players especially if you're very active or farmer that attacks people more than defending.
This thread is like my log book and progress with few tips on how I get around as a premie.
It's okay if you think this thread is another show off boring thread... But by this thread I will give my other insight and challenge what almost everyone said here.
A lot of players also quit this game because they upgrade TH too fast, so... I think this can help too for premie players that get stuck on this game and can't progress.
My First Month
So, I just purchased my android phone on October 2013, and installed this game about at the mid or end of October 2013... so, I've been playing this game for about 3 months now.
well, at first I don't know how to play this game. Just like any other new players, I put my Town Hall in the middle, surround all my building with walls and I just prioritize to upgrade all my collectors and attacks everyone that I think I can win. lol...
until somewhere on TH5, I'm lucky and come to a 400K gold collectors raid from a retired guy.
At that time, I think I just hit the jackpot and find the lost treasure. but the next day, 300K collector raids popped out again.
This makes me think again about the game play and I begin to explore those next button. And, Hell yeah... Those 2 guys is not the only one. I find a lot players like them in this game...
But, Of course with TH5 troops I can't do much yet, even though they popped out with 200K/300K/400K. I just can get no more than half of them because my troops was too weak.
So, I switched my focus to upgrade my army camps, get more troops and do the troops upgrade, I also plan to rush my TH to 7 because I begin to use google and know that TH7 have extra army camps and BK. I've also put my TH outside
so, I save gold, upgrade my TH5 asap, then again I skip TH6... I'm just doing the gold storage upgrades so it can pay the TH7 upgrades and during that time, I'm just upgrading army camps and troops.

My Second Month (As a Premie TH7)
I finally I arrived on TH7. Very premie... with just yellow / black walls, mortars lv.2, wizard towers lv.1. But I already have good army camps and troops...
Just like my plan, what I do first is get the new army camps. I also get DE storages asap
Hell yeah, that extra camps helps a lot... In a just more than week of TH7, I managed to max all my walls and get BK too.
I'm very glad I rushed to TH7. Lol... you must be laughed to see my base at that time. It's the small mortar Lv.2/3, AD.Lv.1, black cannons but with all purple walls.
So, after my walls maxed, The game play changed... It's very boring. I just sit all day with full gold because everyone keeps saying to max TH before moving. I stubbornly followed the advice and what I can do is I'm just hiding under shield because those green archers will always steal 200K+ and few DE.
I stay like this for almost a month, until a great day comes... right after I've maxed my mortars and Wizard towers, I read forums and come to
rhymquimghyf's thread.
His arguments is very strong and I agree with him. His opinion makes me think to upgrade soon instead of maxing.
But I don't want to make mistakes. So, I'm opening my own thread here:

In my thread, Lot of people still give their suggestion to max, but seems their arguments is not strong enough. Some even don't have arguments but just following the old tradition... Lol. But some that let me to upgrade seems to be very reasonable.
So, I end up with decision to upgrade to TH8 more earlier... with Maxed splash damage, but TH5/TH6 air and point defense.
For the reference, this is my TH7 base before I'm upgrading:
So, for the resume on TH7:
1. Rush to TH7 is not bad. It's great anyway. There is no points to stay below TH7 because the farming journey actually starts here
2. You just need to max Army Camp and Lab upgrades for your farming troops. It's a must for every farmers
3. Never worry about your def, you can get a lot more than what you loose
TIPS:
- Max out those army camp and get Lv.4 troops asap
- I farm with BARCH + 12wb around Silver I and Gold 3. Giant-Healer combo always works too
- Just hit next until find 150K+ raids, they are either collector raids or rich TH6...
Skip those TH8+ with good mortars / wizard towers, we don't have good troops yet.
- TH6 is easy 2-3 stars, just destroy their mortar with 2 lightning spell, they no longer can do anything to your 200 troops rush. Be sure to check cc, a dragon can wipe your entire army easily.

My Third Month (As a premie TH8)
About on Christmas, my TH8 finished and hell yeah... I'm very excited...
This is my base few hours after my TH8 done:

what everyone said is WRONG !!!
They keeps saying "
I will loose more" and "
I will get less" as a premie.
but when I arrived on TH8, What happen is
the opposite. Actually,
I loose less than ever... I loose 250K almost everytime when I'm on TH, but once on TH8, I just loose 1K.
I get more than ever... I get none or just 500K a day on TH7. but once on TH8, I get few millions a day.
How this can happen? TH8 must loose more 50K than TH7. well that's just the simple math that doesn't actually work. That 'cap' happen only if you have good amount of storages in hand. When sitting with full gold on TH7, well you reach that 'cap' and you loose the max amount. But as a premie TH8, there is so much things to spend golds, your storages will be almost empty all the time. So, attack damage you got is mostly just 1K from TH snippers. Farmers won't bother to drop because there is nothing to take.
Then How I get more as TH8? TH6 loot is reduced by 50%. well again that loot penalty thing is just a simple math that won't work if you've maxed walls. Those TH6 only good if you can farm them. what is the benefit of finding them with 300K loot? even if you find them with 2 million loot, it will be just a waste if you already have full gold in hand. The gold will all gone and you get none.
Then the best thing in TH8 is the game actually changed when I got the green archers. They are much stronger than before. I can farm stronger opponents... 300K+ loot from TH7+ is not difficult anymore.
So, Instead of waiting the wonders of TH6 with 200K to pop, I come across many TH7+ with easy 300K loot which is way more common
Without any problems, I farmed those all skull walls within the 20 days with green archers
So, I come again with condition where I have to sit all day with full gold...
Then without waiting much longer I start the TH9 upgrade
Resume for TH8:
1. Loosing more loot and getting less loot not always work for higher TH levels.
2. new TH8 won't hit the 300K loot cap, they will loose less or just 1K for TH Snippers
3. You have to consider lv.5 troops too, they are far stronger.
4. Those still says TH7 is farming sweet spot is lying. TH8 loot is much more better
TIPS:
- Get Lab asap, the LV.5 troops is BIG help. The green archer is big game changer
- My troops isn't changed, I still go with BARCH + 12wb around Silver I and Gold
- Hit next until find 200K+ raids, collector raids, rich TH7 or weak TH8+ guys
- rich TH7 is easy win, if they have their 2 gold storage close each other, it's perfect targets... just funnel your troops and BK close to them then drop 1 rage. It should destroy them.
