I might have to disagree on this one. The first thing that should be upgraded especially after a TH upgrade is not defense but offense (Laboratory, Army Camp, Spell Factory, Clan Castle, and Barracks on some level), because offense is what gets you loot. Defense only lets you keep the loot which is secondary. After offense is maxed out, that's when you should start upgrading defense.
You might want to mention that generally speaking, splash defenses should be leveled up before point defenses.
Another mistake i see is adequate ground defense upgrades, but almost no air defense upgrades.
I agree on walls , I pretty much skip without a second thought the bases with really high walls...Just finished a trophy push to master with a guy in my clan .My defences won it for me.
This will helt me to get out of the premature sinkhole..

Sorry, i dont mean to disagree, BUT, i think the game is changing where the old thumb rule to max everything before you move up is changing ...
Basically there are two sections of people ..... Casual, and active
Procedure 1 :
For casual players, upgrade times are a boon, because it gives a reason not to log on every 30 mins and do a raid. You could just log off for couple of days and check progress.
Keep minimum gold in storages (less than 1 mil).
When roughly your builder is getting free, play for 2-3 hrs get the gold/elix for next upgrade dump extra gold on walls and logoff. Before moving up max everything before doing so. kill some time when you have and experiment with BARCH, BAM and other techniques to get a hang of it.
Procedure 2:
For active player, who raid more often. Focus on Offence. Offence is the best defense.
Max, Spash, Lab, Spell, Troops, make sure you get lvl 7 walls in TH8.
Once most important troops upgrades are done .. Or roughly 3/4 maxed ...move up. It is of no advantage to max everything, like Valks or Pekka, if you are not gonna use them. Absolute waste of lab time.
Goal is to reach TH10 as fast as possible (not maxed base, but definitely not being pre-matured). Once there you can fill up storages, go farming and trophy hunting without a hitch ...
Level 104, TH9, 600+ mil gold grab, Donations: 65k +, Highest Trophies : 2669
Walls: 147 level 9(Legos). AQ 11, BK 12.

5 Things make up a a "Pre-Mature" Base:
- 1 Player level does not accurately portray where the player is at.✅ level 109 seems ok
- EX: Lvl 57 at TH 9
- Walls are not upgraded closely, or to max potential of current townhall.✅ done over half my lego
- EX: Lvl 6 Walls at TH 9
- Troop level is sufficiently lower than current townhall can support.❌ Oh dear
- EX: Lvl 4 Archers at TH 9
- Defenses are not close to what current townhall can support.✅ yup maxed Th8's def
- EX: Lvl 7 Cannons at TH 9
- Collectors are not at highest level for current townhall❌ Opsy thought overflow of elix was enough
- EX: Lvl 6 Collectors (Gold or Elixir) at TH 9

Joking aside nice thread but I'm thinking that my definition and your definition of pre-mature are a little out of touch with each other.

Im a lvl124 th9 and and I just finished upgrade gold mine to lv11 now working on elexir pumps during my th upgrade...
does that make me a premie?
