    Fatigue Spell

Or something like that, not the best name. Basically it slows down the damage per second/hit of a defense. It is also visually accompanied by a slow motion movement speed if that makes sense.

If upgraded the time it stays in the ground stays longer and the -% is bigger.

Meaning example in level one it removes only 10% of the damage/second/hit meaning if the original damage/second/hit is 100, with the effect of the spell the damage/second/hit will be 90 temporarily..

That sounds like a weak version of a freeze spell (especially if it affects only defenses). Perhaps call it a slowness spell, or something like that. It seems weird to refer to a defense as fatigued.

In what type of situation would this spell be preferable to a freeze spell?

No, its not a poison spell on the defence. it slows down the damage/second/hit temporarily and not cause harm to the hitpoints of the defence.

So, it’s like the effect when an ice golem hits something.
