Actually, they donated 5000 gems. 500 was the number of US dollars that was the original fundraising goal. It's since been raised to $1000, due to the fundraiser's success.
And for what it's worth, here's what I think about your OP: You may have a good idea (tournaments for players not in the top clans), but the way you make your case is off-putting. You assume an awful lot about things you can't possibly know, for example:
...which isn't gonna cost more money to develop or upgrade than it costed valve to develop a pc game....they are too greedy for that....you people have enough money to burn...When you add outright conjecture and name-calling to an otherwise supportable premise, it is immediately weakened.Supercell is ignoring not only the masses, but even top players.
