So you agree with the OP, yet because of his status and experience, you disregard the whole situation? There is really nothing else for me to add in this thread. Most definitely there should be more rewards, tournaments etc. Yes, SC is a business who wants money, but again, many other companies of this stature have better incentives. We can only hope this reaches SC and they give two donkey licks about it.

^this. too many people on this forum make assumptions about people just because they have a different play-style or a different view of what is enjoyable. Your tournament idea is great! I would love to compete for gems, or just regular resources now and then, but I have no interest in trying to get into a top ten clan. I for one, do not find trophy hunting enjoyable. Its not that I can't hunt or don't have the skill. I just don't like it. It's not my cup of tea. Other people find donating 20,000 troops a season to be fun. Some people like playing games on the highest difficulty. Some people like playing on hard, or normal, or easy. My point is all players are important to SC, so giving a reward to only 10 players (albeit probably the 10 highest spenders) out of the million players is a bit cheap. SC should encourage players to be more active, because the more active players are, the greater chance they will buy some gems.

I really can't fathom why adding a tournament for us simple folk would be a bad thing! What possible negative consequences could it have?? Obviously if SC did implement it, they would never dole out a game-breaking about of resources.

From good old clan mates, i mean old players in my clan and yes, i know them personally.

I am ranting in lieu of other members and a bit for myself too. I am not gonna be the only one who will reap benefits.

Just look at a minor addition for a limited period. Christmas tree. that's right

Such a small addition but yet it triggered discussions and curiosity among people. what people get from it? tiny bit of bragging rights and a trickle of gold, yet it's something i wish would spawn on my base >_>

it doesn't need huge prizes to please the masses. Every small step matters.

I don't want SC to rush, but keep small updates flowing in and we will have something to keep us interested other than just farming

Temporary additions are a great idea without clustering the game

When we have to resort to making the Winter Competition or The League of Clans tournaments on the forums, organize, communicate outside of COC, do all of our own scoring there's clearly a demand for a missing product. Yes supercell is a business, yes they will only give us enough handouts to keep us playing/paying (ie gemming broken things like the spell factory). Not sure about the Winter Competition, but LOC had 20 clans participating this round, and more were rejected due to logistics of managing it all. Seems like a simple fix to me, setup these sort of events IN GAME, let the software organize it, score it and reward a 100 gems to the winners (knowing sc). You do realize people who 'compete' also have to gem heavily, a 5 day push usually costs me 4000 gems, sometimes less sometimes more. So for a small light at the end of the tunnel, you'll still be profiting because it's 'exciting/different/fun' and people will gem to achieve that.

Playing this game for 15 months now, it's getting stale, even new units (amazing or not) don't seem to be revolutionary enough to keep my excitement up. Look at other games that succeeded for 7-10 years, the best gave you hundreds of ways to play. Clash, pretty much 2...you farm or you push...there's gotta be more guys.

    Respectfully,
    Evan

Edit: I'd also like to see a clan finder feature that people could use. Use level, th level, cup count, casual vs competitive, etc to match fitting members to fitting clans. Global is a fail and the forums are hardly a elegant solution when less then 1% of the population actually visits.

Now i have been reading about all the complaints in forums and i support them whole heartedly.

But let's discuss about in game tournaments and events if any such things even exist.
What's the most 'exciting tournament' we currently have? 20000 gems for first team and divided between top 10 players of that clan.
So at max, 30 people get to reap the 'benefits'
And this is the best thing a multi million company can come up with. distributing ingame items worth couple of hundred dollars every 2 weeks to players that are the main source of income for them.
Leave alone lower league players, we are not even on the radar.

Now i might be comparing apples and oranges, but let's take Valve's new game as an example. Every year, a tournament is held and the prices? over 1.6 million USD (it might even be more than 2 million, leave alone the cost of arrangements )
it's a free to play game, in which u can buy skins and visual items for money. now such a setup and yet giving out huge prices?

Supercell, makes around 1 million USD from CoC alone and that's PER DAY. it's a frigging 50 mb mobile game which isn't gonna cost more money to develop or upgrade than it costed valve to develop a pc game.

My point? what has supercell done to keep players interested? funds issue? hopefully not
I don't expect them to give real life money prices. how about in game price distributions?

less staff? Hire more. you people have enough money to burn in firehouses to stay warm and fuzzy.
    something, that's worth an effort?
I can go on ranting but who likes to read a wall of text

TL;DR : Supercell is ignoring not only the masses, but even the top players.

I agree, but unfortunately what can we do? A similar Japanese-themed CoC knockoff even has a pretty awesome clan wars system. That game blows, but the clan wars part was a pretty big hit.

Closing this for now, ill clean it up a bit shortly. Some food for thought in the mean time: Why must you all try to troll eachother so much? The op has a very valid point, and I cant see anyone realistically not wanting more tournements, rewards, insentives to play etc etc. Theres obviously a demand for it, in the donation competition I hosted months ago for example, over 40 clans signed up..
