I don’t post a lot, really just for trading, since I quit recruiting. But I’ve been using the forums since 2015, I believe. I don’t post, but I’m on daily, reading, researching, learning and trading. Im still in denial. I can’t even think about it. I play by myself now, as my hood has just gone inactive over the years, but I come here to feel connected. With the forum gone, I’ll feel alone, out of touch and out of “the know”. I don’t really use Facebook. Not comfortable trading from it. I’m on discord, but it’s just “NOT”. I don’t know how to describe it. It’s not easy to use. It’s not full of information. It’s not comfortable. It not the forum. Maybe I’ll get used to it eventually, but I’ll never get used to the forums being gone.

Thank you to Nick and the rest of the Mods, thank you to the game specialists like Momscar and all the rest of the very high posters who have spent so much of their time, their energy and their knowledge to educate us, comfort us and guide us along our, and my, HayDay journey. Never was there a truer or more sad saying than..”You never know what you have until it’s gone”.

    Anger, depression..

You just can't find similar, well-grounded and often lengthy information from players to players from any other source. Sure, there are chats, superficial questions and answers, and trading places but that's it.

I think there was a lot of missed opportunities with the forum from SC point of view but I understand the resources are limited and you can't be everywhere. And when the forum popularity went down, I think there should have been big rework with all the inactive subforums, combining them to a one viable one.

Thanks to all mods and game experts.

I'm done. Weekend is here, the sun is shining, cold breeze on my cheek.
It's time to take over the forum.... or working on where and how to proceed next when I'm not taking a break.

Will need your help to decide what's best for you, too.

I don't know if I'm grieving, but I am sad that now that I've begun using this resource, it's going away. I feel like my friend has just told me s/he is going to die in three months.

I rarely visit the other options and they are no substitute for this forum. This is a special mostly safe place to discuss Hay Day, get tips, encouragement, etc. and that doesn't happen on those sites.

Sometime soon I'll have to come back here to learn how to archive helpful posts.

On the right upper side of the most recent post is the post number. Above that are "Thread Tools", which has an option to view a printable version, which you can copy and paste whatever content you want to save onto a word doc or on some subforums you have the option to email a particular page to yourself or others. You can also just screenshot less lengthy posts.

    Okay. I succumb. I’m pointing a finger. In a general (non-specific) direction.

I’ve felt for quite some time that “powers” wanted the remaining forums to die through attrition. It’s why whenever SC put out sites for players to visit, the forums never made the list. Not even at the bottom. The “powers” did not want new people joining the forums. New players join, or visit the forums almost compulsively, because they help so much with playing during the first 75 levels. That just would not do because a constant influx of new players would postpone “their” goals and render inadequate any reasons citing lack of users.

“They” closed down the newer forums to see what would happen when “they” eventually decided to kill the Hay Day and especially Clash forums. “They” are obviously satisfied with the results, the rest of us be…………

This is how I feel, warranted or not.

Still in the anger (disdain, annoyance, skeptical) phase in case that wasn’t clear.

I am going to miss a whole lot of people here. I won’t make a list because I’m sure to forget more than one person. Just assume you are on the list because you probably are even if we never directly interacted.

I will mention ilovehayday. Though we never met, I remember when she was on here as a tertiary student and now she’s a married woman. I’m sorry that I will miss her becoming a mother - assuming she were of a mind to let us further into her business. 😋

Anyway, forgive me going back on my promise to myself. I’ll try to keep any further grumbling to myself as I wait for Meo to come up with something I can trust. No pressure, Meo. Just an acknowledgment that without that this is the end for me.😏

I'm in denial....still trying to comprehend what's happening. From Nick's post...

"Our care for the community not only extends to our players but also to the safety of our community’s ability to share their ideas with us. The platform our forums are based on is a quite outdated one that is no longer supported by the publisher, leading to many potential security risks with regards to account information. If this were the sole reason for our concern, then switching to a new platform with up-to-date security would be a relatively easy solution.

But the main factor behind this decision is a simple problem of numbers. Looking at Forum activity over the past 4 years, the amount of daily usage has continued to drop while activity on our other channels continues to rise. This shows a clear preference which platforms our players use to communicate with us. A recently reviewed report of daily forum activity spanning the past few years shows a drastic decrease in the amount of daily activity, number of new posts, and number of daily conversations."
    ..........................................
So a new publisher is needed, who can support this outdated platform? We can't be moved to a new platform, because there's not enough participation here?

Did I miss the announcement that asked for more participation? Where's the advertising to let new players know about this great resource of Hay Day knowledge? Ok.... I'm now transitioning into the anger stage!!!!!!!!

I'm not savy on internet stuff. I don't understand why this platform can't exist forever in the cloud, atleast a read only version??

So it's all about numbers? Does this forum generate revenue? How much does it cost to run it? Somehow, I must be missing something to understand.

Hay Day...are you saying our "small" community doesn't matter to you???? Don't we inform you of problems, and valuable oversights?? Are we not a piece of the backbone that makes the Hay Day community??? 😡

Nick's co-worker Darian addressed some of our concerns in a thread posted in the Clash of Clans subforum, so I'll quote Darian.

Unfortunately, due to various potential government investigations into data security we simply can't have the forums to run continuously in its current state without migrating to an updated platform and then doing an audit through multiple data security agencies to certify its security. We're talking high 6- to 7-digit costs for that, which would include paying a consultant to find a modern forum platform that's secure, a contract to migrate all of the data to the new platform, contracting a security agency to audit it, and then contracting with multiple government agencies to certify it. Were the forums as active as they were even a year or two ago, we'd happily do it. But we simply can't justify that for just a few hundred people.

Even when there were over 250,000 posts per day across all our forums, which translates to just tens of thousands of users per day, it still pales in comparison to the millions of people our other platforms reach every day.

And yes, regarding the people unaware we had forums, that actually shows people prefer more recognizable platforms and not a lack of promotion of the forums. If someone's been playing Clash for 9 years and was still unaware of the forums even after all of the promotion of it we've done in-game and on social media, they wouldn't have visited it anyway.

Multiple countries are starting to open up investigations into various companies regarding account security and given the outdated software we're using for these forums, it's a prime candidate to be investigated. Migrating to a new platform just for read-only posts is simply not a practical solution because of the costs involved in migrating all of the user info, and running numerous security certifications. We tried exploring that option as well.

Additionally, we would still be faced with the same logistical issues that led to this point to begin with, which would be contracting a consultant to find a secure platform, securely migrating the data, having multiple security audits, getting governmental certification (the Finnish government is incredibly adamant about data security. Like crazy thorough).

Again, if we still had tens of thousands of users every day, we could justify the 6 to 7-digit price tag. But you're asking for that kind of investment for just a few hundred people. And I'm talking under 300 people. Even if I could do it, there is no finance team in the world no matter what company that would ok such an investment for such a small group of people.

I owe everyone here a huge debt of gratitude for making this place awesome and I will never forget the many who have made me laugh, made me angry, made me proud, and accepted me into the Clash community.

Thanks Lynn for sharing Darian's explanation. That really helped! I feel much better now knowing a more detailed explanation. I feel foolish for posting what I did, but it felt good to vent. I guess I can except this now. Knowing how hard they tried to keep the forum, makes me appreciate Hay Day/ Supercell even more.

You're welcome, Eyelashes. There's no need to feel foolish because the purpose of this thread is to support each other during a difficult time.
